Subject: Well...actually no. she wouldn't have to watch the show. Here's how soap writing works (at least on most soaps).....

Soap writers are also divided into two groups....storyline developement and character developement. Storyline peeps would never have a need to see the show. Their sole purpose is to develope new storylines. They need to know charater history but....no reason at all to actually watch the show.

Once a storyline is bashed around about a thousand times and finally plum...it passes on to..... Character developement peeps. Character developement people are assigned specific characters that they write for. They in turn write dialog, action and reaction to the storyline according to charater. These people will often times watch the show just to pick up little nuances and quirks of the actors playing the roles so they can make the character more 3 dimensional and real.

Anyway...that's how they do it. Seems like there'b be an easier way huh? But nope. Gotta go thru alllll the channels.

Basically,all I do is punch up the dialog for certain characters,after sitting through a run through and making notes on what seem to be weak spots. I do watch old shows from time to time to get motivation,or to try to make sure that the continuity is better. That's been a problem.The only people that watch the show are the ones that get paid to. No one watches it for entertainment,and I am so disgusted with the storylines,they wouldn't be able to pay enough to sit through it anymore.
