I think you should see for yourself what would have happened...

She claps a hand gloved in silver leather, her entire appearance changing to head to toe skin tight black leathers, armored breastplate covering her upper torso, elbow joint armor in place and shoulder armor covering her left shoulder, her hips and derriere covered in armor as well, her boots of black leather and covered across her shins with armor... taking hold of your hand, you feel time shift again, this time it's different, you begin to feel like you're out of sorts and misplaced... when the pulling sensation ceases, you see that you are still in Auxky's cave, your father is still standing in front of Auxky, you can see yourself standing over by the hoarde, the red leather book still in your hands, Mor Rhiogan nowhere to be seen or felt and everything appears as if you are watching it through a vision spell... then Cait lifts a hand, freezing everything in place as she turns to you...
I took you back in time, Shanna, and to a splinter of your reality. This is right when your father asked you to hand over the book. But in this reality, this time, Mor isn't going to stop you. YOU are going to make the choice all of your own here... again, I ask you... would you have given the book back?

again, with a flick of her hand, time begins... you can hear your father asking for the book, your question of what book... then you can hear a woman's voice at the entrance to the cave, calling for Auxky... you can recognize the voice as belonging to your cousin Harmony Kell and she's come to visit her friend Auxky... the emerald dragon lumbers off to guide her into the cave, past the traps... you still see yourself there, the book in your hands as you have a battle of wills with your father over the book... Cait guides you over to just behind yourself...

You do understand that life is like a thread woven out of sheep's wool, yes? We each begin life, all different parts of that life are woven into the thread that identifies us as who and what we are... and that choices we make cause other events to happen, the choices we don't make, cause different things to happen... You cannot stop what is about to happen... this is the splinter of reality that would have happened had Mistress not stopped you. You do not exist here, neither do I really... we are as shadows in this reality, The Fates have chosen your life already. That book is a very powerful book, much stronger than you can imagine, even Mistress would hesitate to give that book to anyone, preferring to keep it locked away and hidden from Mortal's grasp...

Feel free to wander around, watch this from different angles and such... you cannot do anything, nor will this consciousness of yourself be damaged in any shape or form...

you can see the other Shanna fighting within herself, seemingly drawn to the book and to keeping it... there is something there, something within or about the book that is fighting to stay in her hands... it is at that time that Auxky returns with your cousin... she smiles to both you and your father, hugging him gently then coming over to hug you... As she draws closer, something happens to the other Shanna... she turns and opens the book, her eyes are glazed as if she is under the control of some other entity... as the book cracks open, a bright glow erupts, bathing the ceiling of the cave in a day-bright light for a few moments before a spiral of shadow and wind begin to dance up out of it... all goes black within the cave except for the light from the book in the other Shanna's hands... you can see what looks like small universes spiralling around in the mini-vortex created by the book and the wind tugs at her hair... you can hear your father's shouts to close the book, Auxky's roar of disapproval and anger at this 'invasion' of magic into his lair... but still the other Shanna cannot close the book, it's too strong for her to do so and she couldn't even if she had the strength, for she's fallen under the spell of the book, bound to it now by the overwhelming magic held within - instantly addicted to it and needing more... she turns a few pages, the mini-vortex changing shape and content with each page, from creation to destruction and back again, ever changing like life itself...

but she turns the page one too many times and the air explodes around her, sending fireballs off around the cave like lava-bombs from a volcano... you can hear the ear-splitting collisions as they blast into the walls and splinter rocks that rain down on everyone present... you can hear a scream of pain, and still the other Shanna is unable to close the book, her eyes wide in terror now as she realizes she's unable to close it and 'turn it off'... still more happens, like a tilt-a-whirl nightmare gone horribly wrong and shadow waiths rise out of the pages and enter into the darkness of the cave... a resounding roar is heard echoing through out the cave, accompanied by still another scream - this time of terror and utter soul-wrenching pain...

The other Shanna finally manages to get the book closed and throws it across the cave... when the vortex ceases, the air within the cavern clears of the shadows, hung with the stench of death... your cousin Harmony lies dead, burnt nearly beyond recognition save for the splash of fire red hair that managed to escape unscathed... Auxky is against the wall, nursing wounds ranging from burns to cuts from the splintered rock and various other things... but Ravenous is missing, the last scream echoing in your mind as the other Shanna finds a necklace of silver on the ground where he once stood, the necklace your mother gave to him years ago, the necklace he'd never taken off since... and when the other Shanna picks it up, you can see the overwhelming fear and panic in her eyes as she realizes that the last scream was her own father's, and that the shadow wraiths that she unleashed took him, never to return for it was magic that unleashed the demons...
