I know some people that work there and used to work there. Its a level 5 up/down. They currently have about 14 or 15 controllers with no trainees. They are supposed to be getting 1 or 2 trainees this year. It is a very slow tower however. I you like to read books/magazines or stare out the windows at nothing this facility could be the place for you. Alot of the controllers there are older, most people go there as their last facility before they retire. It would be an alirght place to start right out of school with few trainees and a good way to get your feet wet before moving on to a busier facility. I work at a level 6 up/down and most days are pretty slow, so i cannot imagine working at a level 5. But some people out a BIS are worried that one day they will lose their approach control and the FAA will contract out the tower. But no one seems to know when/if that will happen. If you want to know more just let me know. Otherwise you can talk to Gary B. he knows a controller out there that went through the program a few years back.
