Usually I shun the academy awards because they piss me off. It never really seems to matter what the best picture was, or who the best director was. You can have this awesome, amazing movie, that absolutely blows everyone in the world away, and half the time the fucking academy will be like..."ooh, but we're not going to give them the award just because everyone thinks it's the best...instead, we're just going to give it to this really obscure art film, because it must mean SOMETHING, and we'll look really important, and like we get it, if we give it to them instead. We realize this wasn't really the best picture of the year, but we're an elitist bunch of snobs, and we're going to give it to whoever we want."

Fuckers.

So...I was glad to see the *actual* best film of the year get its just rewards. I was afraid the Academy would be their usual bitch selves and give it to Mystic River, or something, just to be contradictory.
