Subject: twenty (or near) answers
In reply to: Doyle 's message, "So, how do you want to do this? Twenty questions..." on 03:51:01 05/28/03 Wed

1)Who was your fav character (living or un/dead)?

Hm. Hard to pick a single person out of the whole series. I've had different favorites at different times. Pretty much no one escaped without pissing me off once or twice, at least. I guess here, at the end, I'll give an utterly surprising answer: Xander.

2. What was ya fav ep?

Like you don't know this one, already ;) Becoming pt.II

3. What was ya fav season?

Again, you already know. Season 2.

4. Who was your least fav character?

Hm, now that one's even harder to pick than who my favorite was. Should I choose Faith, whom I've never really liked? But no, even though I didn't like her much, she did contribute in a big way to the dynamic of season 3. Should I choose Anya, who I've almost always disliked? I can't, in good conscience, because I have to admit to having liked her sometimes, and found her funny at least a quarter of the time. And I even used to like Buffy (who actually, still has her moments), so I can't choose her. I can't even go with people I hate, because half of them were put there to hate on purpose (like Darla). I'll go with Adam. I found nothing redeemable about him, except that he got to kick Buffy and Riley's asses for awhile. That was nice.

5. What was you least fav ep?

I really really wanna say Restless, just as a point of honor, but I think I'd be lying. I think it might have to be Doublemeat Palace.

6. How would you rank the seasons, from best to worst?

Season 2
Season 3
Season 1
Season 5
Season ..hmm...here's where it gets hard. The first four choices are easy. The real question is, did season 4, season 6, or season 7 suck the most? All right, to continue...
Season 6
Season 4
Season 7

7. How would you rank the season finals, from best to worst?

Ah, this one's a little easier, though I haven't seen the finale to season 7 yet, so it's probably a little skewed.

Season 2
Season 5
Season 1
Season 3
Season 6
Season 4
Season 7 - dunno.

8. Who was your fav recurring character?

Well, after season 5, that would be Giles. Before James Marsters became a regular, I'd go with Spike. I also liked Ethan Rayne. I miss him.

9. What were three of your fav quotes?

Only three? God, man, I can't whittle that much! But here are a few classics, in no particular order, that just jumped into my head:

1) Xander: "Disassembled. That means when he's broken down into his little buggy parts."

Cordelia: "I know what it means, Dorkhead."

Xander: *Gasp* "Dorkhead! You slash me with your words!"

2) Xander: “I’m just gonna go home, lie down, and listen to country music. The music of pain.”

3) Xander: “What am I gonna do? I think about sex all the time. Sex. Help! Four times five is 30. Five times six is 32. Naked girls. Naked women. Naked Buffy. Oh stop me!”

4) Oz: “I am my thoughts. If they exist in her, Buffy contains everything that is me and she becomes me. I cease to exist. Huh. No one else exists either. Buffy is all of us. We think. Therefore she is.”

5) Snyder: “My predecessor might have gone in for all of that touchy-feely nonsense, but he was eaten. You’re in my world, now, and Sunnydale has touched and felt for the last time.”

6) Whistler: “Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are. You'll see what I mean.”

7) Buffy: “A demon! A demon!”

Willow: “It’s not a demon, it’s a car!”

Buffy: “What does it want?”

Xander: “Is this woman insane?”

Willow: “She’s never seen a car before.”

Xander: “She’s never seen a car before?”

Willow: “She’s from the past.”

Xander: “And you’re a ghost.”

Willow: “Yes, now can we please just get inside?”

Xander: “I just want you to know I’m taking a lot on faith, here.”

8) Xander: “This is Ford, my bestest friend of all my friends. Geez, doesn’t she know any fat guys?!”

9) Drusilla: I'm naming all the stars.

Spike: You can't see the stars, love. That's the ceiling. Also, it's day.

10) Spike: “You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood...blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.”

Okay…that’s enough. That’s way more than 3. *g *

10. What kind of character would you have liked to have seen in the show? How would this character have fitted into the show and what would their name have been?

Hm. I’m drawing a blank on that one. There are definitely characters I wish we’d seen more of (like Whistler, for instance), but I don’t really see any niches that needed filling. I wanted to wish for an utterly normal character, at first…someone who wasn’t in any way, shape, or form connected to supernatural powers or selection, but I guess that’d be Xander. And where he doesn’t fit, Jonathan always did.

11. What was your fav action sequence/fight?

Ooh, tough one. As much as I love the dynamic of season two, and the finale in and of itself, that fight scene was probably not the best ever done. Not if you’re looking at action and moves and all. That would probably be attributed to either A) the Buffy / Faith fight at the end of season 3 or B) …and this one’s going to shock you, I know…the climactic Initiative-wide fight scene at the end of Primeval. It was all exciting with the explosions and the slo-mo and the fighting. * g* Other good ones include the Buffy / Willow / Giles fight in “Grave” and the whole school against the Mayor and the vampires at the end of season 3.

12. In a perfect world, the couples on the show would have been/remained...?

* sniff* Buffy and Angel. Xander and Cordelia. Willow and Oz. Giles and Jenny. It was all perfect for the first couple years. : (

13. In an imperfect world, the couples on the show coulda/shoulda been...?

I don’t think I get this question. We GOT what an imperfect world gives us.

14. If you coulda changed one event that happened in the show, what would it have been?

Stopping the gang from bringing Buffy back to life in “Bargaining”.

15. What kind of "concept"-type ep would you have liked to have seen made? (eg. 'Hush', 'The Body', 'OMWF')

Some kind of period piece episode would have been interesting. Like….the regular cast of characters playing entirely different people from some book or movie, or younger or older versions of themselves. Or, conversely, the same characters but older or younger…played by different actors at a different time and place.

16. What actors/actresses would you have liked to see guest-star on BTVS (no matter how unlikely the possibility of them guest-starring would have been)?

Heh. Interestingly, Ian Nottingham from Witchblade woulda been cool. Or Sara Pezzini from the same show, for that matter. Oh wait, you said actors and actresses, not characters. Woops. Um…don’t really care too much about just actors or actresses guest starring. No big whoop.

17. What was your fav song that ever got played on BTVS?

Ooh, another hard one. Toss up between “Sugar Water” by Cibo Mato (“When She Was Bad”) and “I’ll Remember You” by Sophie Zelmani (“Angel”).

18. What character would you say most deserved their own show?

Hmph. Dunno. They’d need to be able to flesh out the character. I mean, there’d need to be lots for them to flesh out, like Angel. They could do lots of stuff with his character. Similarly, Giles could have a good show, because of his past and his position. Oddly, though, I think I’d like to see a show about Oz. I could have bought a spinoff after he left, showing where he went and what he learned…what he’s doing now.

19. What other characters would be in this spin-off?

All BTVS cast could guest star anytime they wanted. But oddly enough, I see Cordelia best as sidekick. I like the idea of her teamed up with Oz even better than her teamed up with Angel back in ATS season 1.

20. Are you glad BTVS has finished?

Yes.

Good poll, Doyle, thanks : )
