Subject: My thoughts on the Angel S4 final (for anyone who's interested)...

Well, one thing you can say about it: it was better than S3's final:) I thought 'Home' rocked. A list of why:

*Dead Lilah returning. I'd always remembered that bit with Angel and dead Holland in the elevator from S2's ep 'Reprise' and always thought that if Lilah ever died, she should show up again like Holland did. Whoo-hoo for the fact that she did! Tho unfortunately it seems she was to be sent back to hell after she got the fang gang to accept her offer. Maybe she'll return, who knows. And it was good of Wes to try to release her from her contract with W&H (even tho it didn't work).

*The set-up for next season - totally kick-arse imho. Seems like S5 will be getting away from the annoying archs we've had the past two seasons and back to what the show was intended to be like in the first place.

*Connor's exit from the show. Now I'm quite aware of how many ppl disliked Connor. I didn't particularly care what happened to him. I actually was never as annoyed by him as I was/have been/am with Dawn (funnily enough). But the way they wrote him out was (I thought) well done. And it was believable that Angel would give his son a new life, one that he was always meant to have. But ya gotta feel at least a bit sorry for Angel don'tcha? I mean, now, not only does he alone haveta carry the memory of the day between him and Buffy that "never happened" he also is the only one who remembers Connor.

Now some questions and comments:

1. Just how did Connor get a hold of explosives? And while we're at it, how does he know how they work? He was raised in a hell dimention but has excellent knowledge of explosives and where to get them?

2. What was up with Gunn and the panther? Can someone explain this to me?

3. How the FRILLY HECK did Angel not only make Connor forget his previous life and stick him in a nice normal family but also make everyone except Lilah forget who Connor was? Was it just part of the deal he made? "I'll take over W&H but you gotta give Connor a nice new normal family and make everyone but me forget wh he is". Was it meant to be done in sort of the same way Dawn was introduced to buffy or what?

Comments:

Okays, I could put up with Wes and his wrist-sword/stake weapon from earlier in the season but I just rolled my eyes at him now having a grappling hook thing that fits in it as well. What is he, Batman? No wait...Angel's Batman. What's Wes, James Bond?

On first appearance I thought all the tour guides for the different members of the FG would bug me but they were actually alright. The guy who played the scientist dude who showed Fred around was that Holden Webster guy from Buffy's S7 ep 'Conversations with Dead People', was I the only one who noticed that? I wasn't too fond of Gunn saying out aloud, Do I get her?" (in reference to the female who, it did turn out, *was* his tour guide) right in front of Fred. I mean, are they even officially broken up? Even if they were, it just didn't seem too nice to be so obvious about his attraction to the woman. I don't know about anyone else but I could see something maybe happening between Fred and her tour guide (ha! Take that Gunn! *g*). Poor Wes just got stuck with some old fart who he knocked out...good for him. I would too. I do hope these guides (minus old fart guy) show up in some of next season. It'd be nice continuity at least. And tho I know it won't happen, I just wish like hell that they'd add Lilah to the regs next season (now that Connor and Cordy ain't commin' back). Unfortunately, Joss doesn't like adding ppl I want to the cast. He prefers to add ppl *he* likes, the bastard.

All in all, a very kick-arse season final, definitely better than S3's and I think maybe even better than S2's. It's easily in my top ten fav eps, that's for sure.
