Isn't it interesting that Bush & Blair, now joined at the hip more than ever, are declaring the world a safer place to be because of their stance on Al Queda and Islamic Fundamentalists, not to mention the onslaught in Iraq? Especially when one considers the unprecedented paranoia and security measures taken by our respective states. Can't they see they're like caged animals, scared to even touch the public? They are so isolated in their limos and motorcades, yet the world is supposed to be a better, safer place? I listened to one demonstrator on BBC R4 today. he was an American living in London. He said that when he originally came over in the 60's, he joined the Vietnam protests at the US Embassy in London. "In those days," he said, "the cops would walk and mingle with you in short sleeves. Now they're covered head to toe, batons at the ready, some of them even armed - that's the difference in the world now since then, I guess!"

Sad, isn't it ...
