In Sonnet 130 Shakespeare seems to mock other poets. Instead of making his lady an exquisite beauty, as they make theirs, she is ordinary. Shakespeare's lady has black wires for hair and breath that reeks. Yet for all this, in his last couplet, Shakespeare claims to think that she is lovely as any of the other ladies in the other sonnets. He seems to love her because of her inner beauty.
