Subject: FUEL LINE BLOCKAGE

I am having problems with the fuel line coming of the fuel pump to the carbs being crushed by the coolant overflow tank.
The fuel line comes straight out of the pump and gets bent over by the tank. I stalled out on the highway the other day and got it started again by pulling out the pump aways to relieve the pressure on the hose. Part of this hose was also resting on the engine block under the carbs - has anybody ever heard of " vapor-lock " from a rubber hose?

I spoke to Carl Leo about my cold-start problems. He confirmed that the starter valves draw raw gas up from the bowls via very small passages on the side of the carbs. Mine of coarse are clogged with no easy way of getting them cleared, so for now I'm starting the bike by spraying gas into the air box via spray bottle thru a small hole I drilled capped with a screw. Maybe next time I'll send them
out for a professional cleaning.
