To be honest Joe, I would keep your existing motor for parts and get one From Carl Leo.. That way , you know you have a good one, from a trusted source.

Yes, the bent selector dogs is fairly common, typically because riders try to force the gear change rather then letting it snick in..
Cylinder head gasket leaks are not common either. Yes it happens, but more likely is a coolant leak from the pipe behind the headers..
