Subject: 50 Song Challenge!!

In case anyone's interested...I thought I'd pass this information along. Below is a FAQ to the 50 song challenge taking place yahoo groups 50SongChallenge. The challenge starts on July 4th so hurry up and get ready!!


"I understand that you're suppose to write 50 songs in three months.."

In 90 days, from July 4 through October 1st.

"and from there you pick your best one.."

At one time, we talked about each writer submitting their best song for
judging, with judges picking the top 12 to 14 and then doing a
group-sponsored CD. The idea hasn't gone very far, but everybody has
been working on their 50 songs. Come October 2nd they may just say,
"Well
what about the CD, Dave?" We'll see then.

"well what do you get if you win?"

This was a Challenge, not a contest to see who could write 50 songs or
write the fastest, etc. Every year I throw out a Challenge to all
songwriters, anywhere and everywhere. You want to be a professional
writer? Write 50 songs in 90 days. It's not as easy as it sounds, but
everybody usually comes away with something from it.

"and what do you do with the other 50?"

Hold on to them. We're going to be rewriting and developing the songs;
picking which ones to do serious work on, which ones to demo, which
ones
to pitch.

The Challenge is going to go on every year for as long as I can make
it.
Between Challenges we'll work on the craft and getting ready for next
years' challenge. You're welcome to stick around; you can even set up a
file and put 50 songs in it that you'd like to work on.
