Como tal vez recuerdes, para esa época, Owen tenía un personaje que se llamaba "The Blue Blazer" (como el que utilizó en Wrestlemania V).

Se había planeado una entrada espectacular para Owen, que esa noche se enfrentaría a Jeff Jarrett.

La entrada consistía en entrar bajando del techo, enganchado con un cable.

Owen practicó esa entrada un par de veces, pero según su esposa, Owen no se sentía confiado.

Llegó el momento del combate y Owen se lanzó desde el techo para hacer su entrada, pero estando muy arriba, Owen se separó del cable que lo sujetaba y entonces cayó desde muy, muy arriba y luego se golpeó contra la parte superior de uno de los postes del ring.

De una vez lo fueron a atender, pero Owen falleció 15 minutos después.
