Subject: Way to go Tris

Corum wasn’t sure what was going to happen to him but somehow, someway, his attacker managed to suddenly lose his grasp on the weapon. When Corum turned his head, he spotted Tristan, and tried to help the dragon as best as he could. When all was said, and done, Tristan lied in a heap on the ground next to the assassin.

Corum checked for a pulse on the assassin, and was thankful that he didn’t find any. That bastard had nearly tried to kill him, and for what? He still didn’t know what was so special about Alakbar outside the fact that he was the Sheikh’s son. Why didn’t they just take him, and leave the rest of them alone.

Marz was soon on the scene, and Corum was surprised to see his shirt off as well as most of the bandages, not to mention a lot of burn marks all over his body. What the hell had happened? He wasn’t given the opportunity to find out as Marz instructed him to search the dead assassin, as he picked up Tristan, and headed back for the camp.

Corum happened to look up, and spotted Barry. “I owe you one dude,” the youth stated. “Thanks for helping me out.”

With that Corum proceeded to check the body for any valuables. He pulled out a curious round pebble, and felt it in his hand. Not knowing what it was, he threw it over his shoulder, and heard a mild BOOM. He quickly turned around and spotted an area with smoke billowing up from it. Maybe the item could prove useful, however he really didn’t know when, and how it would. He decided to keep a few for himself, and Marz, as he continued to check out the assassin.

The man had some weapons but none that Corum thought would be useful. He did, however, manage to find a purse with some gold in it, and that he made sure he took with him. Once he was done, he left the body where it was, and proceeded back to the camp with Yorik in tow. He arrived at the area where Valhorek was already tending to Tristan, and Marz.

Valhorek was looking over his notes from the Jann healer when he heard his name being called. He looked out of his tent, and spotted Marz carrying an unconscious Tristan, laying him down by one of the campfires. The healer immediately retrieved his medical kit, and joined the two.

He was surprised to see no shirt on Marz, and many of the bandages he had originally placed on the youth gone. More than likely, he would question the youth about it after he checked on Tristan. Doing a surface scan with his inner psychic healing powers, he noted that Tristan was poisoned, but with a very mild dose, and one that merely allowed the dragon to sleep. It would be only a matter of a few hours before the dragon would come to.

“Actually,” he stated to Marz. “There is a little poison running through his system, but it’s acting as a sleeping agent, and will not do him any harm. Since we’ll be leaving shortly, I suggest he remain asleep until we leave. He’ll be fine once he wakes up. “Now, let’s take a look at you.”

Marz rolled his eyes, and Valhorek knew that the youth didn’t overly appreciate healers, thinking that he could mend himself without anyone’s help. However, Valhorek wouldn’t see matters any other way, and so started to examine Marz.

He cleaned up the burn wounds, and then applied a salve, which would lessen the severity of the pain, and scratching, as well as subdue the swelling. There was no need for bandages since they were merely surface burns. The healer then checked out his ribs, and was surprised that they were doing quite well, and the need for additional bandages wouldn’t be necessary.

“From what I’ve gathered,” Valhorek stated to Marz. “Your burn wounds are superficial, and will heal quickly. The salve I applied will help stop the blistering. Your ribs are mending quite nicely, and I don’t see the need to bandage them up again. Just take care of them.”

As Valhorek started to pack up his kit, Corum came walking into the camp. “YO Marz,” the youth stated. “Check this out.” He handed over the purse he had found to his friend. “I think that’ll hold us for a while until the next time. When asked if there was anything else of value, Corum looked at him blankly until he remembered the pebbles. “Oh Yeah!” the youth exclaimed. Get a load of this.” With that he handed the pebble to Marz who merely rolled his eyes. The youth was about to throw it over his shoulder when Corum stopped him, and explained how it kind of blew up upon impact. Marz’s eyes widened, and he gave Corum a sly smile.

As a second thought Corum looked to Marz. “Tell Tristan thank you, if I forget,” the youth stated. “He saved my life.”
