Well, I may be a joust addict, but I can't give credit (or fault) to the guys from Impact for that - I was a joust junkie looooooong before I ever met them, before they were even jousters.

I don't think the difference was that the guys from Impact enjoy what they do more than other jousters. They may or may not. You've gotta love doing it to be crazy enough to joust in the 1st place. What was off about the jousts at NYRF, I think, was the way they were scripted. It was like the crowd wasn't even there, like they were doing a scene for a movie or something. You know how the guys always say before the show about the crowd being a live audience (breathe in....breathe out....) and that there's no glass there between them and the crowd? Well, up at NYRF there may as well have been a pane of glass there, because it sure felt like there was one. It was literally like watching a show on tv - not fun at all.
