Maybe Najara was a good warrior but Xena being defeated like that doesn't happen very often. I can't think of a time before that episode that she was beaten so soundly. She must've been having a bad day.

Are you talking about the fight over the ooze stuff in Path of Vengeance? I thought Xena was drawing out that fight to then allow Varia a chance to kill her (when she was on her knees) on purpose to make her see that she was following Ares path, one of vengeance. I think there were a lot of chances for Xena to take Varia down but didn't. Maybe that's just my interpretation of that episode.
