Luke walked into the club with a sigh, still searching for Emily and Nikolas. He had already been to Kelly’s and the docks as well as the cottage, but found nothing. This was his last idea, so he was relieved to see them sitting in the corner, at a secluded table for two. Grinning, he strode over to them, a bottle of the potion in each hand.

“Hey there, kiddies, having a little romantic night out?”

Emily and Nikolas looked up in surprise and she smiled. “Luke, hey... What’s that?” She frowned at the bottles, then looked at Nikolas, who shrugged.

“These are for you. Made ‘em special just a little while ago, in fact.” He set them on the table, one in front of each of them, then folded his arms proudly. “Go ahead, drink up.”

Nikolas gingerly picked his up and looked at Luke suspiciously. “You’re kidding, right? This looks disgusting.... how do I know you didn’t poison it? You’ve been trying to kill me for years now.. me and my entire family!”

“Oh come on, Nikky, now if I wanted to kill you, why would I do it in the middle of my own club, in front of Emily?” he asked innocently.

“Exactly! You want me to think you wouldn’t do that, so I’ll be stupid enough to drink this.” He pushed the bottle away and shook his head. “No way.”

“Look,” he sighed, growing impatient. “I know about that spell you guys did...”

“How?” Emily asked, surprised. He smirked at her and shrugged.

“I have my ways. Anyway, it backfired..”

“I know, Willow already figured that out. Spike wouldn’t tell them anything,” Nikolas interrupted.

“That’s not quite what I meant. It backfired onto you guys, making you tell the truth, not him. You have to drink this to stop it.”

They looked at one another and laughed. “Oh, come on Luke, you can do better than that!” he said. “You’ll have to think of something much more creative if I’m going to drink that stuff.”

“Believe it or not, I’m not lying this time. Now, I couldn’t care less if you’re stuck telling the absolute truth forever, but the cowboy asked me to do this, so here I am.”

“Then why isn’t he here?”

“He’s off trying to get Liz to drink hers. I told you, all of you who did that spell were affected by this mess. You’ve all been like a bunch of drunk Honest Abes all week.”

“That would explain some of the things she’s been saying to Lucky,” Emily mused, staring at the bottle of murky liquid. “But we haven’t said anything... how can you be so sure it did anything to us?”

Luke thought for a moment, then looked steadily at Nikolas. “You know that big safe Count Vlad has hidden behind the ugly portrait in his office? What’s the combination?”

Nikolas shrugged. “8 - 5 - 11. It’s my birthday backwards, without the zero on the 80.” Luke grinned and he gasped, looking at Emily in shock. “Why did I just tell him that?”

She laughed and nudged one of the bottles towards him. “Looks like you need to drink this after all.”

“So do you,” Luke said, looking at hers. “Like I said, you were all affected.”

“But I don’t feel any different. Ask me something.”

“Okay, um.... what’s the deal with you and Nik here?”

She looked at Nikolas and smiled. “We sleep together sometimes, but he doesn’t know I’m in love with him.” No sooner did the words leave her mouth then her eyes widened in shock and she grabbed for the bottle. “Oh god, why did I just say that?”

Luke chuckled and took a step back from the table as they opened the bottles and sniffed nervously at the contents.

“Um, this smells nasty,” she whimpered.

“I’m sure it tastes worse,” he muttered under his breath, then grinned. “Bottoms up!”

Oz looked at his friend, holding the bottle of potion in his hand as he waited patiently for Willow, Xander, and Cordelia to stop chattering so he could give it to them.

“Oz, man, when did you get here?” Xander asked as he leaned back in his chair as the waitress refilled his cup of coffee. “You know, I’m really starting to like Kelly’s . . .all the waitresses are super hot.”

Cordelia rolled her eyes and punched Xander in the arm.

“Wow, what was that for?”

“For acting like a conceited, piggish jerk,” she retorted with a sardonic smile.

“Yeah, well, at least I’m not a--.”

“Ok guys, let’s hold off before we say anything we’d regret,” Oz put, waiting for them to shut up before continuing.

“Oz, why are you here? You told me earlier you’d be hanging out with Lucky all night, did your plans change?” Willow questioned, looking at her boyfriend lovingly.

“Sort of,” he paused, looking at Willow guiltily. “Remember that truth spell?”

“Yeah, the one that failed miserably? Willow, you really make a very inept witch,” Cordelia noted.

Oz looked at her; unsure if that was the work of the spell or if it was Cordelia being Cordelia. “Well, it didn’t totally fail.”

“Yes it did Oz, we didn’t get anything from Spike . . .but I love you for thinking it did,” Willow told him with a gentle smile.

“No, I’m being serious. It worked, just not on Spike. It worked on you guys.”

Xander scoffed, “Now that’s just absurd . . .and somehow typical. But man, I think you’re a bit off, I don’t remember telling anyone the truth like the spell would prompt.”

“Yeah you have . . .think about it, since when have you felt the need to tell us about every detail of your sex life?” Oz challenged. When Xander didn’t respond he placed the bottle on the table. “You guys have to drink some of this and things will be cool.”

“No way,” Cordelia protested. “That looks like swamp water . . . I am not putting it in my body, I have limits.”

“Cordelia, why would Oz lie to us?” Willow asked. “If he says my spell went awry, I’m sure it did, and if this little potion will correct my mistake I think we should take it. I just feel so bad . . .”

“Ah Will, don’t worry about it, I’m sure it won’t be the last time you screw up a spell,” Xander told her with a grin before grabbing the bottle and gulping down some of the contents. He winced and glared at Oz, “Oh gosh, that stuff is nasty . . .gross.”

“Next,” Oz prompted, looking from Willow to Cordelia.

Cordelia snatched it from the table, looking at Xander, “Don’t ever say I never tried something new.”

“Whatever,” Xander grumbled as the things he had said and done the last few days came rushing back to him.

“I just have to warn you that you’ll remember everything you did under the spell . . .” Oz began as he watched Cordelia’s reaction to the serum. “And it’ll turn your tongues blue.”

“Blue?” Willow gasped as she was about to drink the serum.

“It’s not that big of a deal,” Oz told her. “I’ll love you, blue tongue and all.”

“Isn’t he just the best,” Willow gushed as she drank from the bottle.

“Well, this is certainly interesting. I’ll never be able to look anyone in the eye ever again,” Xander lamented as he stood up from the table.

“Oh Xander, quit being such a baby. Sure, you were brutally honest, who cares?”

“Who cares?” he asked Cordelia harshly. “I care! I just met people like Emily and Liz and Lucky, I do not need them knowing the ins and outs of my sex life. I’m not like you Cordy, I kind of hold that part of my life private.”

“What is that supposed to mean? You know I’m not like that . . .well, at least I thought you knew me better than that,” she replied, her anger slowly building.

“You’re not the least bit embarrassed by your recent actions?”

Cordelia stood up and turned to leave. “If that is what you think Xander, be that way. Maybe we aren’t as close as we thought, maybe we were right when we split up.”

“Oh, why I . . .I am not going to let you walk away first. I’m leaving,” Xander shouted as he stormed out of the diner in a huff.

Spike stood on the edge of the dock, looking out at the water. It was all so big, so open, so ready for someone to take over and control. And soon, he hoped, soon that someone would be him . . .

“Spike, um, what are we doing here?”

But first he’d have to control his little band of merry vampires.

Spike turned around and glared at Hannah, “It’s called a meeting, love, you know what that means. Right?”

“I wouldn’t be so sure Spike, Hannah isn’t the brightest bulb in the bunch,” Carly retorted with a laugh.

Spike smirked at them before turning to Stefan. “So Stuffy, any news?”

Stefan looked at the trio with disgust, “On what? Your search for the mysterious Gem of Power? No, despite your misgivings about my knowledge of all things mystical, I do not know where this Gem is.”

“Well then, we’ve got to find out, don’t we?” Spike asked rhetorically as he paced the docks. “We’ve got two slayers and their group of sidekicks running around this town. We don’t have a whole lot of time before they start figuring things out. Not to mention, their seemingly hands off attitude towards slaying cannot possibly continue. We have to get moving, we have to find the bleedin’ gem before it is too late.”

“And what would too late be?” Hannah asked honestly. “Like a time of night or something?”

Spike looked at her blankly, having absolutely no answer for that type of idiocy.

“Shut the hell up Banana, before I have to do something drastic,” Carly threatened, her eyes narrowed and serious.

“Oh I’m scared Carly! What are you going to do, dump me in a laundry cart?” Hannah teased. “Besides, who cares if we find this stupid Gem of Power. What could it possibly mean?”

“Ultimate power, the upper hand, immortality . . .”

“Ok, I have a question about this whole immortality thing,” Carly cut in. “I thought as vampires, we are immortal. How can this gem make us even more immortal, if that is what it does?”

“Well we are immortal, to an extent. The only way we can be vanquished is a stake through the heart, sunlight, decapitation and . . .why am I explaining this to you people? Go find me something that’ll give us a lead on the Gem! And do it quick,” Spike ordered, slightly flustered. He jammed his hands in his long black over coat and began to walk away, stopping when he realized his three cohorts weren’t moving.

“What are you people waiting for?”

“How are we supposed to do this?” Carly wondered.

“It’s not very hard, go talk to people who may know where to find the Gem, or who may know something about it. It’s not brain surgery people,” Spike muttered. When nobody moved he pointed to Stefan, “You, Cassafreak, go that way.” He turned his attention then to Carly and Hanna, “Dumb and Dumber, you two go together.”

“Why?” Hannah pouted, “Stefan gets to go alone but I am stuck with her. That is so unfair.”

“Well, life is unfair, deal with it,” Spike shot. “Besides, you two are far too green and, well, you’ll get killed if you go alone.”

“So you want me to baby-sit her?” Carly asked as she grabbed Hannah by the arm. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she doesn’t get staked by any slayers.”

Spike nodded his head as he sulked off. “Next time, background checks on those I sire, that’s a must . . .”

Jason and Sonny stood at the pool table at Jake’s, Jason lining up a shot while Sonny watched. “So, she told you she was a vampire slayer? And that guy . . .”

“Angel,” Jason added.

“Angel, said he was a vampire? Jason, these things don’t exist,” Sonny said a bit nervous despite his disregarding the idea.

“I don’t think they are making this up Sonny. Angel even said something about Liz being a slayer and, you know how Carly and Hannah haven’t been around much lately?”

“Jason, no way, if they aren’t around it’s probably a blessing, not a work of vampires,” Sonny joked as he took a drink of his beer.

“No, I know this is absurd Sonny, but it is possible. The last time I saw and talked to Carly she was … acting strange. I really believe them, despite how stupid it sounds,” Jason said as he took his shot.

As Jason and Sonny played their, Angel stepped into the bar unnoticed. He sat down and ordered a beer, though he really had no intention of drinking it. No, he was there because he was trying to deal with his actions the last few days.

How he could be so susceptible to a spell so easily? And more importantly, how could he act so foolishly under the spell? Things certainly were much stranger than they already had been. But the biggest mistake he made was helping Buffy let her secret out.

What exactly he told to Jason in his explanation was somewhat of a haze, mainly because he was doing his best to repress the memories of the events of the last few days.

He couldn’t understand how he could come on so strong to Buffy, not that she wasn’t reciprocating his actions, but still, if they had done anything while under the spell, if they had acted on their hearts desires . . .dire consequences would be an understatement.

Angel had to figure out a way to stay to help in Port Charles but also keep his distance from Buffy. The urge to be with her was always strong, but his feelings had seemed more urgent, more important lately and that could only spell doom.

“I thought vampires drank blood, not Heineken,” Sonny asked as he sat down next to Angel, Jason on his other side.

“Oh wonderful, the friendly mobsters,” Angel lamented with a sigh. “What can I do for you boys?”

“A few answers.”

Angel looked at Jason, frowning as he realized he probably told Sonny everything. “Yes, what Jason told you is true. I’m a vampire, Buffy and Elizabeth are slayers, and your girlfriends are vampires as well,” Angel explained tiredly.

“If all you say is true, and you are a, you know, why haven’t you tried to kill me yet? Or anyone for that matter?”

“He’s got his soul,” Jason informed his partner.

“I was cursed with my soul, I know that killing people is bad,” Angel noted with a plastic smile.

“Oh, isn’t that just useful,” Sonny said sarcastically. “What you said about Hannah, it’s . . .”

“True? Yeah, sorry, I know what it’s like when your girlfriend is an evil vampire,” Angel said as he took a drink of his beer. “Is there anything else I can help you with?”

“Just a warning,” Sonny said, dropping his voice to a menacing level in hopes to scare the vamp, though he had a feeling he didn’t. “If anything happens to Elizabeth or Emily or any of those kids, you’ll be very sorry you ever came to Port Charles. Got it?”

“Listen, we are on the same side. I’m here to help, that’s the only reason. No need to get in my face, alright?” Angel challenged. He stood up and looked down at Sonny. Sonny backed away and grinned.

“I think I’m going to get back to my game. Jason, join me,” Sonny muttered as he backed away.

“People,” Angel grunted as he returned to his seat.

Liz walked along the docks, hoping to run into Jason soon, when the sounds of a heated argument met her ears. She paused and frowned upon recognizing their voices.

“Great, just what I need tonight...” she muttered under her breath as she dug a stake out of her bag. “How they haven’t killed each other by now is beyond me...”

“At least Sonny loves me!” Hannah was shouting as Liz turned the corner. “Don’t you get tired of always throwing yourself at Jason? He doesn’t want you Carly, you might as well face it and find some other poor loser to seduce.”

Carly lunged at Hannah with a fierce growl, her face transformed to its vampire form. Liz hung back, unsure if she should just let them go at each other or intercede. Figuring it would be more fun to join the fray, and at the same time distract herself from her other problems, she rushed towards them, stake at the ready.

“So, are you two just going to spend the rest of eternity having these little catfights?” she asked, getting their attention. They stopped grappling against one another and turned to glare at her. Carly hissed, which only made Liz chuckle, and let go of Hannah.

“Hello, little slayer,” she grunted, cracking her knuckles in anticipation. “Finally, a real challenge.”

“Actually, I wasn’t here looking for a fight. I’m looking for Jason, you don’t happen to know
where he might be, hmm?” she asked sweetly, smiling at Carly as if nothing was wrong. Carly
snarled at her and lunged forward, but Liz was ready for her and jumped to the side, dodging her
attack. “I’m sorry, did I hit a sore subject?”

“Why you little...” she sneered, lunging again. Liz ducked this time and kicked at her, sending her
sprawling to the ground. She giggled, amused at how easy it was to thwart her, but was blindsided
by Hannah, who had circled around and kicked her from behind. She caught herself with her hands
and sprang back to her feet, spinning around to face her as she did so. She raised her stake, but Hannah was already kicking for her hand with a move that resembled some of the marital arts Buffy was teaching her. Seeing that she might actually be in danger this time, Liz backed up and watched helplessly as the stake was sent flying across the docks. She had more in her bag, but that had also fallen to the ground earlier. As Hannah stood there and grinned evilly at her, she realized how powerless she could still be.

“That FBI training comes in real handy now....” Hannah said happily, kicking at her again. Liz blocked this one, but knew it was only a matter of time before she slipped up and missed.

Behind her, Carly was crawling across the docks after the discarded stake. She grabbed it with a
victorious grin and stood up to survey the scene. Liz and Hannah were exchanging kicks and
punches like kung fu champions, but Liz looked like she was quickly losing her energy, while
Hannah seemed to be able to go on forever. Jealous that the woman was beating a slayer so well,
she rushed over to them and swung at Liz, determined to defeat her first.

Liz wasn’t prepared for Carly’s attack and fell backwards, her head swimming from the blow. She
blinked up and rolled away in time to narrowly miss her foot kicking towards her, but ended up
right in the path of Hannah’s instead. She said a silent prayer for someone to come help her as her
world slowly faded to black.

“Is she dead?” Carly asked, leaning over Liz’s motionless body. Hannah squinted down at her and
shook her head.

“No, just knocked out. Give me that, let’s finish her off.” She reached for the stake in Carly’s hand, but she held it away with a laugh.

“Stupid, these don’t kill regular people, just vampires.”

Hannah frowned at her and reached for it again. “If you jam it into her chest far enough, trust me, it’ll kill her.”

“Fine, then I’ll do it. You’re not taking a slayer kill from me! Spike will be so proud...” As she
was prematurely gloating, Hannah took advantage of her distraction and made one more lunge for
the stake, this time knocking it to the ground. They both dove for it and scuffled for a moment,
trying to tear it from each other’s hands. Finally, Carly won out and jumped to her feet. Hannah rose as well, and stared at her warily.

“Now what are you going to do, Banana?” Carly sneered. “You know I’m just dying to see if this
works....”

“If you kill me, Spike will be pissed,” Hannah warned, dodging away from her as she thrust the
stake forward.

“No he won’t. He hates you almost as much as I do, haven’t you noticed?”

“So? He hates you, too,” she shot back. “Isn’t it against the rules or something to kill our own
kind?”

“You watch too many movies,” Carly laughed, rushing at her again. “It’s survival of the fittest out
here. The strong always kill the weaker members of their species, and you – .” She lunged again and
knocked Hannah down this time. She jumped on her to pin her down and grinned evilly, “ - are
definitely the weaker of us.”

Carly thrust the stake into Hannah’s chest, grunting a little with the effort. She fell to the ground
as her nemesis exploded in a cloud of ash and froze for a moment, a little surprised that it had
actually worked and a bit frightened by it. She had really killed her....Hannah was right, Spike was
going to be pissed.

She jumped up and brushed the dust from her clothes, glanced back at Liz, who was still
unconscious, then pitched the stake over the docks into the water. For some reason, she felt the
need to get far away from there as soon as possible. Maybe it was guilt, maybe it was just fear
that Liz’s friends would be showing up any minute to kick her ass, but either way, she had to leave.

As Carly disappeared around the corner, a soft chuckle emanated from the shadows nearby and a
young beauty stepped out into the dim light, her deep brown eyes sparkling with glee. She was
clad in nearly all black leather, and her chestnut hair rest in soft waves at her shoulders. Her lips
were painted bright red, perfectly contrasting the whiteness of her teeth as she smiled.

“Oh B, say it ain’t so.....Is this the new slayer?” She clucked her tongue and shook her head, then began to slowly approach Liz’s unmoving body. “Too bad this town isn’t big enough for all three of us.”
