Chapter 6

July 4

**L&B**

Dylan paced around the lobby of L&B records, beyond frustrated with his older brother’s work ethic. Ned actually had the nerve to go into the office on the fourth of July, and what annoyed Dylan the most was Ned insisted he come along. It wasn’t even like it was an emergency or anything; Ned just wanted to make a courtesy call to one of his clients in Canada. Dylan was prepared to spend the day at the Quatermaine Barbecue, not waiting for Ned to finish up the call. He wasn’t even sure why he had to be there, Ned said something about learning responsibility . . . Dylan didn’t care, he just wanted to leave.

He jammed his hands into the pockets of his khaki shorts, groaning inwardly as the door to the building opened.

“We are closed, holiday!” Dylan shouted as the door opened further. In stepped a woman the likes of which he never saw before. She had a great body and subtle red hair, as she removed her sunglasses Dylan was blown away by the intensity in her eyes.

“Well I’m sorry, but I need to speak with Ned right away. How can I reach him?”

Dylan shook it off before turning annoyed again, “He had to make a call, but then we are leaving. So scram, come back tomorrow.”

“I don’t think you know who I am. V Ardonowski, I work for Ned out of New York,” V said with an easy smile. “I’ll wait.”

“Whatever,” Dylan sighed as he sat down on one of the couches. A few minutes later Ned exited his office, smiling instantly as he saw V.

“V! What are you doing here?”

“Well, it’s a long story. But I was wondering if I can relocate back to Port Charles, continue my duties from here?”

Ned thought for a moment, pulling Dylan up by the back of his shirt. “I can’t see why not. Let’s talk about it on the way to the picnic. The annual Q’s fourth bash awaits,” Ned explained with a smile. “It’s good to see you though, it’ll be good to have an actual adult working in the office.”

**Kelly’s**

Liz laid casually on Landon’s bed, waiting for him to return from the bathroom so they could go to the picnic. She promised Emily she’d get their early to help rescue her from her family, but it looked like Landon was going to be high maintenance today.

“Can’t you just wear your baseball cap? We are going to be swimming, so your hair won’t stay like that forever,” she complained, yelling loud enough so that he could hear her in the bathroom.

A minute later Landon returned, a cocky grin on his face. He leaned against the door jam, admiring his girlfriend lying on the bed. She was wearing tiny tan shorts and a navy blue tank top, he could see her bathing suit underneath, and couldn’t help but want to see the rest.

Liz frowned up at him, “What?”

“You are so hot. Did you know that?” he asked with a laugh, shutting the door before walking over to the bed. He trailed his fingers up her bare leg, stopping at the material of the shorts. “You are also an amazing person. How’d I get so fortunate?”

Liz shrugged her shoulders, her hand resting on his arm. “Beats me, fate?”

“I suppose. I think it’s chemical though,” he murmured, leaning forward to kiss her softly. “Forces beyond our control have made us come together.”

“If you say so,” she said with a giggle, returning his kiss. Landon’s hand slipped underneath her tank top at the exact moment someone knocked on his door.

“Damn,” he groaned, getting Liz to laugh. He went for the door, but his hand was stuck under Liz’s shirt, or rather his watch snagged the material of her bikini top.

“You know, if that’s my brother he’ll kill you if he catches us in this position,” she giggled, trying to detach her boyfriend from her bathing suit.

“And if this is Nikolas I’ll never live it down,” Landon noted casually. He turned his head to the door, “One minute.”

“There, you’re free,” Liz said, finally getting his watch unstuck. “Maybe you shouldn’t wear that watch, it seems to be a hazard.”

“Funny,” he said with a grin as he opened the door. “Lucky?”

“I didn’t interrupt anything, did I?” Lucky asked, slightly embarrassed.

“NO! Not at all,” Liz said quickly, jumping to Landon’s side. She looked Lucky over, who was wearing a red tank top and a pair of loose fitting Levis. She tried to hide her excitement of seeing him again. He had been somewhat scarce around her since he told her his secret. Landon and Nikolas spent the previous day with Lucky, taking him horseback riding and then to the PC Grille for supper and Luke’s for the night. Liz was still unpacking at Steven’s so she had to cancel, allowing the boys to have a night out. After talking to Nikolas, she figured he really wanted to get to know Lucky. Landon on the other hand appeared threatened by Lucky. Which was why it probably wasn’t the best thing for Liz to let on how much she really liked him.

“What can we do for you?” Landon asked grudgingly, pulling nervously at the front of his white tee shirt.

“Um, Emily invited me to the picnic today. Maria and I were going to go, but we realized we have no idea how to get there.”

“It’s the big house, not hard to miss,” Landon deadpanned.

“You can come with us. It’s not far at all, meet us downstairs in ten minutes,” Liz informed Lucky with a smile. “Oh, and don’t forget to bring swim trunks, they have a lake.”

“A lake?” Lucky asked in surprise. “Exactly how rich are the Quatermaines?”

“Nearly as rich as the Cassadines, but they flaunt it,” Landon informed his brother. “See you in a bit.”

He shut the door and turned to Liz, slightly disappointed. “Why’d you have to go and do that?”

“Do what? Help your brother?”

Landon waved his hands in the air, meaning to drop the discussion. “Just forget it.”

“No, why did that bother you?”

“I have to share you all day, with everyone. I was kind of looking forward to spending the drive over there with just you,” Landon whispered, wrapping his arms around her waist.

“Oh, baby, that’s sweet. But it’s a three-minute drive. I promise, I’ll find some undivided time for you today,” she smiled sweetly, kissing him before moving to the door. “Now let’s go, I promised Em I wouldn’t leave her having to deal with her family all day.”

“I bet,” he said with a forced smile, following after Liz. “Oh Liz, I forgot to tell you, Tony said he’ll stop by later.”

She looked at him in surprise as they walked into the dining room of Kelly’s. “Really? So, you are finally going to allow the mysterious Tony to meet your friends?”

“What? You’ve met him.”

“Yeah, but Nikolas and Emily and Sly and Sarah and . . . you’ve kind of kept him away from them. Are you ashamed of us Landon?” she teased, walking over to the jukebox as they waited for Lucky.

“No,” Landon said, unsure of why he never introduced Tony to the rest of his friends. “Today will be fun, don’t you think?”

“Without a doubt,” Liz said with a sigh, her eyes catching Lucky as he came down the stairs. She mentally berated herself for looking at another man like that.

“Ready man?” Landon asked, following Liz’s gaze to Lucky.

“Yeah, we don’t have to worry about Maria. She said she’d get a ride with Lucy and Carly, they were at the restaurant or something,” Lucky noted.

“Better worn your friend Lucky, Carly and Lucy are certifiable,” Landon teased.

“Now Landon, don’t say that. Only Carly is the true wacko,” Liz corrected, slipping her arm through Landon’s. “Lucy’s just eccentric.”

“My cousin and my girlfriend, they don’t get along well. I think it’s cause they are so alike,” Landon whispered to Lucky as they walked out to the car.

“What was that? Did you dare compare me to Carly?” Liz scolded, glaring at Landon jokingly.

“I have to agree with him,” Lucky spoke up, a slight grin on his face.

“Oh really?” She turned her glare to Lucky.

“Yep. You are both beautiful, strong women, who want to live life to its fullest. I totally see it,” Lucky said smoothly, his eyes locking with Liz. For a moment he totally forgot Landon was there, and he had the feeling Liz felt the same way.

**Quatermaine’s – Boat House**

Sly sat casually on the porch of the tiny boat house, his feet propped up on the banister as Emily rushed in and out of the house and back up to the main house at least a dozen times. He watched Emily in her manic haze, wishing she’d calm down for just ten minutes.

“Babe, why don’t you take a moment,” Sly begged, grabbing her arm as she tried to rush inside the house.

Emily turned to him, her eyes slightly distant as she was making preparations in her head. “What for? Can’t you see I’m trying to make today perfect? Goodness Sly!”

Sly smiled softly, almost melting her harried expression. When that didn’t work he pulled her onto his lap, kissing her before she had a chance to protest. “Now, I know this means a lot to you. But it’s only a picnic. You can’t plan for everything, and I know you are trying.”

Emily rested her head against Sly’s for a moment, taking a deep breath. “I just want this to be perfect. I want everyone to have a good time, you, Liz, Nikolas . . .”

“Landon?” Sly asked through gritted teeth. He and Landon hadn’t gotten along for years. When they were young and first met Sly’s father, Bill Eckert, took a bullet meant for Landon. He didn’t resent his cousin for that, though he did wonder what would have happened had Landon never come to town. Sly couldn’t dwell on those things though; they weren’t really what drove the two-childhood partners apart. It was hard to put a target on what exactly drove them apart because it was many things. Landon was jealous of the type of relationship Sly had with Emily. He never had really any friends, and though the three were close, Sly and Emily had the tighter bond. It wasn’t until Nikolas arrived that Landon had anybody he could really turn to. Sly always wanted to be that for Landon, but he’d never open up. Over the years their strained friendship became even more so and they ended up fighting more than anything.

“PLEASE don’t start a fight with him today Sly!” Emily begged, looking into his gray blue eyes for an answer. He frowned but nodded in accordance. “I don’t get it, really. You get along with Nikolas fine, but you look to punch Landon at every turn. Why?”

“Because I don’t like frosted blondes?” Sly teased. “Who else is coming? Lucky?”

“Yeah,” Emily noted, sliding off of Sly’s lap and into the chair next to his. “What do you think of him?”

“I saw him last night at Kelly’s, and we talked for a little bit. He’s a cool guy, despite his misguided desire to be friend’s with . . .” Sly cut himself off when he saw two people approaching the house. “What the . . .”

Emily looked in the direction he was staring off at. She jumped to her feet, her hands immediately balling into fists.

“What are you doing here?” She shouted.

Finally approaching the porch, Dylan grinned. “I’ve come for the party, CUZ!”

“You were invited to Grandfather’s party, not mine. I made that very clear, and this is by invitation only,” Emily said crisply, ignoring the person with him.

“Emily you may bear the name Quatermaine, but you are nothing more than the classless idiots you hang out with. But I love you anyway,” Dylan added smoothly, motioning to his guest finally. “Turn me away, but don’t you think it’s rude to turn Maxie away.”

“Why should I let her stay? So she can gawk at Nikolas all day?” Emily snipped, not in the mood to deal with her cousin or Maxie Jones at the moment.

“I resent that! I do not gawk at Nikki, and if I did, he wants it,” Maxie added, smiling triumphantly.

“Nikki? Who the hell is Nikki?” Emily asked, looking to Sly. He shrugged his shoulders with a smile. “Have you ever called Nikolas that to his face?”

Maxie frowned, pretending to ignore Emily’s question. “Yes I have.”

“Oh really? Well, he’s one of my closest friends and he doesn’t let anyone except his little sister call him Nikki.”

“Give me a break Emily, I call him that all the time,” Maxie retorted, clearly annoyed with Emily.

“Is that so Maxie? Here’s your chance,” Emily pointed behind her to Nikolas and Sarah who were approaching the house.

Maxie blushed as she saw Nikolas, then promptly glared at Sarah who was holding his hand tightly. She looked at Dylan, “I’ve changed my mind, let’s do something else.”

“Sure thing. I know where we can have some good fun,” Dylan whispered. He turned back to Emily, glaring, “Have fun with your imprudent little friends.”

“Oh, you little,” Emily yelled, launching herself in Dylan’s direction. Luckily Nikolas caught her around the waist before she got anywhere.

“Did we come across a moment of Quatermaine family bonding?” Nikolas asked with a laugh while Sarah deposited their belongings in the house.

“Funny, but I’d like to see how you’d react if a cousin you hated decided to suddenly come live in Port Charles.”

“Touché,” Nikolas snickered, shaking Sly’s hand with a smile. “Speaking of family, who has arrived yet?”

“Just you two.”

“Where’s my sister?” Sarah asked, munching on a carrot from Emily’s vegetable tray.

“Probably with his brother,” Sly noted, nodding towards Nikolas.

“With Lucky?” Sarah asked a bit too quickly. She caught her words, smiling knowingly at Emily. Liz had confessed to her sister and Emily that she had a slight crush on Lucky from the moment she met him. Emily could see why, but Sarah felt bad for Landon, knowing that if Liz’s crush turned to something more she’d probably break his heart.

“No, Sarah, with Landon,” Emily corrected, trying not to laugh.

“What about Gina? She’s coming right?” Nikolas asked hopefully, ignoring Sarah’s frown at the mention of Gina. She’d never admit it, but Sarah was threatened by Gina’s involvement in Nikolas’s life. It was one thing with Emily, but Sarah knew the duo had a long history that she shouldn’t get worried about. But Gina was another story and it burned her up.

“Soon, everyone will be here soon,” Emily noted checking her watch. “I better make an appearance up at the main picnic.”

“Want me to come with?” Nikolas asked as Sly headed into the house.

“I’m not dragging my boyfriend with me, why would I torture you like that?” Emily asked with a giggle as she heard Sly shout ‘thanks’.

“Good luck then. If you don’t return alive, we’ll send out a rescue mission.”

**Main House—Kitchen**

“Lucy, do really think this is a good idea?” Carly asked as she and Lucy stood in the center of the Quatermaine kitchen. “First of all, I lived here once, remember? I know for a fact that Cook doesn’t like anyone in her kitchen. Nobody, ever, is allowed to come in here.”

“Yes, but Carly, this isn’t just anybody,” Lucy said grinning, motioning to the man standing in front of the stove. “This is Danny Lewis, our chef!”

“Which brings me to my second point. He’s our chef, our employee, and he probably thought we were being kind to him. Being new in town and all, having been invited to a party like this must be nice for him, allow him to get to know some of the people. And what do you do? Make him cook pasta sauce!”

Lucy turned to Carly, an exasperated look on her face. “If I’m not mistaken Carly, isn’t his job to cook?”

“But not on his day off,” Carly argued.

“That’s alright ladies, I don’t mind. Really,” Danny said with a chuckle. He had a very laid back demeanor, as if he’d do anything for anybody. Not that he was a pushover, more that he was just a good guy.

He wasn’t strikingly handsome, but had a quality about him that was attractive. Not to mention he had the softest blue eyes Carly ever saw, which was one of the reasons she decided to interview him when she knew Lucy had different people in mind for Pier 21’s chef. “I like to cook, I’m alright.”

“No, this isn’t right,” Carly declared as she crossed the kitchen, standing next to Danny, who was probably in his early thirties. She stuck her finger into the sauce that was lightly simmering. “Really, this is your day off before we get into the heavy . . .” she paused, licking the sauce off her finger, “…prep for the . . . restaurant . . .wow, this is so good. You did this with only those ingredients?”

Danny shrugged his shoulders, smiling gingerly; “I guess so. Do you like it?”

“Do I like it? Do I like it? Danny, I love it! This is the best sauce I ever tasted, even better than Sonny’s . . .but don’t tell him,” she added with a laugh, wrapping her arm around Danny’s shoulder. “You are going to make us a success and very, very rich!”

“I’m glad you hired me then,” Danny noted, somewhat embarrassed by the praise. Danny Lewis grew up the youngest of three boys. His mother died when he was eleven, and his father was very strict. He made sure all his sons played sports. His older bothers were both star football players, but Danny wasn’t very good at football or any sport with the exception of tennis. Even that he wasn’t fond of, but he always loved to cook, something he had to hide from his father. Being very traditional, Danny’s father saw cooking as a woman’s job and didn’t want his youngest son to be a chef. He understood cooking if it was for nourishment, steak and potatoes, pork chops and sauerkraut, but never the things Danny wanted to make. Eventually Danny moved out at eighteen never to return to his hometown for an extended period, a small town in Virginia that he always saw as the dark side of Mayberry RFD.

“Do you want me to continue, so I can show those people you wanted?” he wondered. Lucy wanted to show Luke, Kevin, and Sonny the fabulous chef they hired so she ushered him into the kitchen to begin work, when Carly came in and tried to stop it.

“No, that’s not needed,” Carly said, shooting a glare at Lucy. “Let’s just leave the cooking today to Alan. I hear he’s a whiz on the grill.”

“If you insist.”

Lucy smiled, taking his arm with a smile, “We insist.”

Carly rolled her eyes at Lucy’s change in attitude. She doubted she’d truly understand her partner, then again that was what made working with Lucy interesting.

**Picnic Patio**

Steven was talking to Alan about his mother, asking him about his second cousin, Jason, and what he was up to, when someone caught his eye. She was absolutely breathtaking, her dark hair off set her pale complexion perfectly, she looked like a goddess.

Politely Steven excused himself from his conversation, heading directly for the woman. She was standing with who he had learned was Sonny Corinthos and Luke.

“Steven, how’s it going son?” Luke asked, noticing he was standing there.

Steven ran a hand through his dark brown hair, something he couldn’t get over. Growing up it was as blonde as his mother, father, and sister, but almost as soon as he moved out of the house it turned dark. It was something Liz took solace in, she was no longer the only brunette in the family.

“Good sir. I um, well, when we spoke the other day I wanted to thank you for being so great to Liz. Whenever I talk to my little sister all she can do is mention the Spencer family, she is really taken with you,” Steven said, his eyes darting nervously between Luke and the woman.

Luke, picking up on Steven’s real intention for coming to the conversation, took it upon himself to do introductions. “Sonny have you met Steven yet? He’s Liz’s brother.”

“Yeah,” Sonny nodded. “We met quickly in the hall of the building the other day, Elizabeth introduced us.”

Luke nodded, looking back to Steven; “This is Maria Antolli, my son’s adoptive mother. Maria, this is Steven Lars Webber, Landon’s girlfriend’s brother.”

“I know of Liz, Lucky has mentioned her quite a bit, so it is a pleasure to meet you, even if I have yet to meet Liz herself,” Maria said with a laugh, extending her hand to the man. She smiled, taken aback by the intensity in his smile. He was absolutely breathtakingly handsome, sharp blue eyes and a smile with the capability of making a nun rethink her life choices.

“The pleasure is all mine,” Steven said softly.

“Uh oh Corinthos, it looks like your psycho blonde and Kevin’s nutcase have abducted that poor cook, we better go rescue him,” Luke suggested, noticing the vibe between Steven and Maria.

Sonny chuckled at Luke’s subtlety and followed him away from the duo.

“So, how are you liking Port Charles?” Steven asked nervously, “That is, if you’re new in town.”

Maria laughed at his nervous charm, “I am new and it seems to be a really nice place to live. Do you want to get something to eat and sit down?”

“I’d love to.”

**Boat House**

“I believe that it is all a conspiracy,” Nikolas declared as he sat down on the rather large beach blanket they had stretched out in front of the lake.

Liz arched her neck, shielding her eyes from the sun as she looked at her friend. “What’s a conspiracy?”

“Oh, only the fact that he never had potato salad until he came to Port Charles,” Sarah noted casually as she sat down next to Nikolas.

“Well, it’s one of those things we just never had. I don’t know why, it’s absolutely delicious; I even had Mrs. Lansburry learn a recipe for it,” Nikolas explained as he shoved a plastic fork full in his mouth. “What about you Lucky? Is this the first time you’ve had it?”

Lucky chuckled, rolling from his back to his stomach so he could face Nikolas. They were all sitting by the lake, eating and getting sun. Landon ran up the main house to meet Tony, leaving the rest alone.

“Actually, I’ve had it before. Where I lived there was a US Army base, and Maria had a friend whose husband was stationed there. So every July 4 Maria would take me over and I’d experience the whole thing. It was a lot of fun. Hot dogs and hamburgers, barbecued chicken, snow cones, and fireworks. I didn’t really miss out on this particular holiday, that I’m thankful for,” Lucky explained, smiling.

“So I’m still the only outsider?” Nikolas grumbled, drowning his discontent into the potato salad.

“Nikolas, buddy, is there a reason you have been acting like a drama queen lately?” Gina teased as she laid her head on the blanket, closing her eyes as she soaked up the sun.

“You better watch it Cates, or I’ll dump you in the lake when we go water skiing,” Nikolas threatened lightly.

“And he’s not joking,” Emily piped up. “One time, I called him Prince Nikki so he dumped into the lake.”

“Keeping up that Cassadine thirst for revenge I see,” Sly teased.

“Either get them wet or poison their Pepsi . . .what would you choose Eckert?”

Sly stood up, standing over Nikolas in mock anger. “Watch it Prince boy, I’ll defend my girl until . . . I run away screaming like the chicken that I am!”

“Hey guys,” Landon’s voice cut into the good-natured teasing, everyone turning around in attention.

“Yes Landon? Run out of hair gel and need to run to the store?” Sly teased, unable to resist. Liz punched him in the shin jokingly.

“Now, now, no teasing my youngest sibling, it’s not his fault he’s high maintenance,” Nikolas shot out as he jumped up. He draped an arm across Landon’s shoulder, looking at him, “What is it Landon, seriously?”

“I just wanted to introduce you guys to Tony,” Landon explained, slightly miffed.

Nikolas stepped away from Landon and towards Tony. He was around the same height and build as Nikolas and Landon; he had dark hair and dark complexion. Tony wore a pair of black basketball shorts and a yellow tee shirt. He smiled at the group, unsure of what to make of them. Growing up in tough neighborhoods his entire life, Tony never came across people like Emily Quatermaine or Nikolas Cassadine, hell the entire idea the Spencer family and their escapades made his head spin. The only reason he was Landon’s friend was because he was different from the rest. At school Tony knew of Liz and Sarah Webber and Sly Eckert, they were, on the surface, typical college coeds. Good looking, smart, friendly, but too average for his tastes. Landon always seemed different, and though Landon always told Tony that his friends were really nothing like they appeared on the outside, he was always hesitant to meet them. But Tony knew the time would come, he just wished he didn’t have to face them all at once.

“So you are the infamous Tony?” Nikolas mused, looking him over. He leaned back, whispering to the others, “For some reason I was expecting someone more . . .female.”

“What?” Landon gasped.

“You know, I thought ‘Tony’ was a cover for some woman you were hanging out with.”

Liz looked up at Nikolas, “But I’ve met Tony before, wouldn’t I know?”

“Ok, I think it is time to cut the Prince off from the alcohol,” Lucky declared, feeling very comfortable with everyone. He looked at Tony, smiling as he realized he was no longer the stranger to the group, for the time being. He knew everyone was still slightly nervous about him, but with the new guy around, he’d settle in much easier.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Lucky said, extending his hand. “I’m uh, Landon’s long lost older brother.”

“Hey, hey, I was the FIRST long lost older brother, and don’t anyone ever forget that,” Nikolas said, also shaking Tony’s hand.

“Lucky, right?” Tony said, looking Lucky over intently.

Lucky flinched under the young man’s gaze, “Most days.”

“Cool,” Tony noted, nodding to the rest of the group. Emily jumped up, standing by his side.

“I stole lots of food from the main picnic, and later Sly promised to man the grill. So, make yourself at home,” Emily explained, unsure of what to make of Tony.

“Well, anyone up for a swim?” Liz asked, trying desperately to break the sudden tension that came with Tony’s arrival.

Lucky looked over to Liz, wanting to jump at the chance for some time alone with her, knowing everyone else would probably join her. “I’m getting a bit hot, I’ll join you.”

“Great, last one in is rotten egg,” she declared running down to the water’s edge. Lucky watched her, sighing contently, unaware that Landon was glaring angrily at him.

**Main House**

Alexis wandered around the house, having gotten lost looking for one of the bathrooms. She finally made it to the main lobby when someone grabbed her from behind, pulling her into a closet.

“Oh, I like surprises,” she murmured, kissing the man on the mouth as they were engulfed in the darkness.

“I’m glad I could oblige then,” Andreas declared as he flicked on the light inside the closet.

“ARGH!” Alexis screamed, shoving him in the chest, but making no move to leave. “Andreas, what . . .”

“I gather you thought I was Ned? I’ll forgive that for now,” he noted casually.

“What are you doing here? Do you have a death wish?”

“I’m here to deliver you a message from Madame, it’s amazing how she is playing right into my plans to see you,” Andreas said softly, his fingers playing with her hair.

“You can’t be here, and why did you kiss me?”

Andreas waved his finger in her face, “Ah, ah, ah . . . I did not kiss you darling, you kissed me.”

“I thought you were Ned, and you know it. Not to mention, you kissed me back knowing I thought you were Ned. So, if you ask me you are still in the wrong!”

“But eventually my dear, I will be in the right, and we both know that.”

Alexis groaned, “Know what? That you have some absurd crush on me that probably stems from your insane wish to die a gruesome, horrible death at the hands of Helena?”

“No, what we both know is that you will one day love me and I’ll be free of Helena so we can live our lives together. Trust me my dear, you’ll never know passion the likes of which I can provide you. The sooner you realize and understand this, the sooner we will both be exquisitely happy.”

“Or dead,” Alexis added, her hand fumbling for the doorknob. She slipped out of the closet, quickly closing the door as she spotted Ned.

“What were you doing in there?”

Alexis smiled shakily, “I um, I thought it was the bathroom, I was mistaken.”

“Oh . . . ok, I guess, let’s go eat,” Ned said with a smile as he took her hand.

Once they were gone Andreas stepped out of the closet, a pleased smile on his face. This was certainly going to be an interesting day.
