Keith,
I once had a very similar incident long ago, luckily the hive was not inside the house, yet not too far away – right on the window facing outside, so it was like watching a documentary from Discovery Channel but live; the hive and us was separated by just a sheer 3mm sheet of window glass at eye level, quite a scene actually.
Most of the time the insects went out together (didn’t really know if they were bees or something else), when the hive was not well protected, we destroyed it by taking it away with a stick, the bees/whatever came back and rebuilt another on, we did the same again, time after time, the bees/whatever figured out that the spot was unsafe and left it for good.
That’s the end of story. I remembered I felt pretty bad for a good long time, but all other family members that there was not a better choice. We could not breed them, the options were to do it ourselves or call the professional. So we tried harming the least as objective, and left it to the hands of God.
Shalom,
Isa

我們的經驗卻是蜜蜂結巢在屋外的樹上 是我們唯一的出路 我不懂自己處理 找來漁農署的專家 結果是保護我們而令蜜蜂們.........

Thanks, Isa, and Clare,
It seems that a Close Encounter of the Bee Kind is not too uncommon an incident in HK, and the human kind’s first reaction to it is not too kind by itself….Ha Ha… ;-)
Thanks for your sharing ….. More or less in peace…..Keith
