Subject: depressed 11 year old neo male

I have an extremely depressed 11 year old male neo. His mate of 7 years (though they never did have pups) died suddenly in front of him, myself and my 11 year old son on Thursday.

We took her body away for cremation that morning and he has been depressed since. He eats and drinks, for now, but he barely gets off his bed and he cries very softly when he breaths.

What can I do for him? He didn't even want to take a bath today and he loves (they loved) that. He barely pays attention to anything and continues to inspect the trucks (there are 3 work trucks) to see if he can find her. It is the saddest thing I have ever seen next to watching her die.

Should I consider a rescue dog for him? He seems in good health, with some hip issues, but who knows how long I will have him? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. We love our Polu-Bear and would do anything for him.

Mahalo,

Katie
