Subject: I am delighted to say that you can go home again. At least with a book series.

I've always loved Robin Hobbs' Farseer novels, the Assassin trilogy and the Fools Fate series that followed it. Sadly after the last Fool book ended twelve years ago, the works she has produced were very boring, in fact I gave up on ever buying another book of her writing.

Then Saturday I walked into the big Nanaimo Chapters bookstore and found out Ms. Hobb had gone back to the Six Duchies and once again took up the story of Fitz, the Royal bastard raised as an assassin but who became so much more.

And holy hell, IT'S DAMNED GOOD.

George RR Martin is a fan and I wish he could do what she's done, take some old friends and breathed new life into their story. The last few chapters were a tough read-just as before the writer pulls no punches when it comes to life's twists and turns but when I closed the book, I was happily waiting for the next installment of the saga. More than the last two books of ASOIAF, I am sorry to say.
