Subject: Apparently we've adopted Basement Cat.

We need a male cat to balance out Kandy's sucky overload and Ali misses Murphy a lot...

We dropped by a pet store (a large chain) that helps adopt out adult animals for local shelters. There were four cats, one of which immediately caught Ali's attention. Coal is a large, long-haired black cat about 1.5 years of age, who was taken to a vet office by his elderly owner. She asked to have him euthanised because he was "too much cat for her" but thankfully the vet refused and offered instead to have the cat placed with the local rescue group. He was fostered for a little bit and while it took him a while to get used to the home, he did get along with their 9 cats and their dogs.

VERY handsome cat,lovely green eyes,plumy tail and loves to be petted. A little freaked out over his new home and we have twice had to seriously go looking for him in our basement because there are lots of great places to hide and being very black, he's got some good camo going on there. If the kids were younger, I'd bet we'd be calling him "Toothless" since he looks a lot like Hiccup's dragon buddy but we're calling him "Cole" since he knows his name but Ali's had enough of 'coal' in her life after our Rockies stint!

I love black cats.

I'll be catless for 9 days as I'm leaving for Tangiers tomorrow morning and I'll be back from Morocco on the 5th of March.

I'm worried about my mom's ability to take care of Bastet and Loukoum. She seems to manage Bastet's pill for kidney failure and capsule for hypertension, but she can't use Loukoum's areokat so he'll go without anti-inflammatory during all that time, but I needed that break.

Jet is the gemstone made from hard anthracitic coals.

Obsidian is just that obsidian.

I think we'll have to stay with Cole-he knows it too well. As long as he's happy with coming to it, guess it's what he's going to get!
