Staying pretty damn close to the book (s) and great casting, though I'd have made Jon Snow taller...

;-)

Having read all the books and bitched about the overly long hiatus since the last book came out, the tv series is hitting pretty much all the right buttons for a screen adaptation of a story where the cast numbers in the hundreds...I highly recommend the first three books in the series, the fourth is a let down but we're hoping for a shit-load of writer redemption in the book coming out in July.

I must say that so far I am not very impressed by Game of the Thrones, even though the second episode was better than the pilot. It isn't bad, it's rather entertaining but I find it underwhelming. The highlight has been Tyrion but the other characters leave me cold and the writing isn't very thought-provoking...

I haven't read the books so I don't have a prior connection to the characters and the story which probably explains why I am not as thrilled as so many fans.

I'm also on the fence about two others new shows, that are also supposed to be quality shows but don't get me excited either: The Borgias and The Killing (although The Killing had a fantastic pilot)

To me the best tv show I'm following these days is Justified. I adore that show!!!!

What is that one about?

It has nothing to do with sci-fi or fantasy. It takes place nowadays in Kentucky, mostly among "hillbillies".

It's hard to define it, it's a sort of modern Western. The lead is terrific, the relationships are complex, the writing is very very good and the show has the best dialogues (it's a very quotable show).

The second season has one of the best tv villains ever, a middle aged woman named Mags!
