*sniffs* How much did I love "The Sign Of Three"??
Quite a bit. Despite the issues with the BBCi player I had, really loved this ep a lot, a much better 'mid-season' story for the series this time.
Lots to think about, will rewatch later but overall this one really hit the feels for me.

I've just seen it. Very silly, a bit dull, and quite all over the place -- and the tone wasn't really Sherlock Holmes-y, more Brit comedy-like, especially given the wedding theme --, but I really loved Mycroft working out (hey!) and how the clues were all messed up ("sitty thing?" "Cardigan?") when drunk Sherlock scanned the crime scene!!!!
So far season 3 isn't as good as the previous ones IMO. The Guardian is wondering whether the show has jumped the shark and many veiwers leave bad comments about it now.
I figured out lots of things before Sherlock did which doesn't seem a good sign.

I saw this episode from a very, very different POV -- AS, Monday, January 06, 09:41:30pm (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)
Sherlock showed he does have the ability to love someone enough to put himself into a situation he's had no preparation for and it's something no research can ever fully prepare you for...being a best man and best friend.
Sadly it threw his cases and pretty much everything outside of the wedding plans into a sorry state. I agree that Sherlock can be a great multi tasker but in some ways, I think he was so far outside his comfort zone that he was struggling with the Invisible Man, the jilted ladies and even the damn hotel room number!!
Mycroft's advice and inability to lower himself to coming to the wedding didn't help much. Despite what he may say, Sherlock obviously does see Mycroft as a mentor and to try and ignore his attempts to tell Sherlock that his relationship with John was doomed to wither must have been hard. So, instead he makes the vow and pledges himself to John and Mary. This isn't the coldly dismissive Sherlock of series One and I get why some fans are upset over how he has changed. But I'm a firm believer that love can change a person and I think this was what the episode was trying to get across, that Sherlock really and truly tried his damnedest to do the very best by John.
I think they've done a good job of setting up what could be the very hardest decision of Sherlock's life in the finale next weekend. If my suspicions are correct, it's going to be a great way to keep audiences being very eager to see what happens in series Four and if the rumors are correct, series Five. Now I am really hoping we are not looking at another prolonged wait!!
Those are my initial thoughts. Most of the fans who I've seen posting were more favorable about this episode than they were about the one last week, at least in this episode Sherlock behaved far less like a jerk towards John and was shown being humbled and a little more 'regular' in this one-he wasn't the first best man to have some massive highs and lows!!

Indeed -- Chani, Tuesday, January 07, 05:53:13am (89-156-8-80.rev.numericable.fr/89.156.8.80)
I don't mind Sherlock "changing", since the idea of him becoming more human -- or a good man -- has been set up from day one by Lestrade, but I found the episode too muddled, and the tone too light for my taste.
I like my Sherlock (the show) more serious, less sentimental -- the most touching scenes are not necessary sentimental, but this time they indulged in sentimentality -- and, above all, less predictable.
I may be in the minority but I prefered last episode.
But I agree with you about Mycroft's role in Sherlock's life, which was obvious in the amphitheater scene.
I hope they won't go the obvious route of Sherlock having to choose between John's and Mary's life.

A viewer spotted something I totally missed! -- Chani, Tuesday, January 07, 03:53:10pm (89-156-8-80.rev.numericable.fr/89.156.8.80)
When Sherlock was reading the telegrams, he picked one addressed to Mary that said "I wish your family could see this. Love, CAM" Mary was upset.
CAM = Charles Augustus Magnussen
So this series' villain is definitely connected to Mary.

Yes, I've been thinking about that. -- AS, Tuesday, January 07, 08:29:34pm (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)
Also, there is a lot of speculation centered around Mycroft's role in the finale. Let's just say we should be prepared for just about anything....

Now if Sherlock had to choose between Mycroft and John(the mind vs the heart!), that would be interesting.
But they can't kill off my favourite character!!!!

That would be non-canon, though there are ways of working around that. -- AS, Thursday, January 09, 10:12:55am (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)
Given that they have just confirmed two more seasons, it's unlikely but I am left wondering if Mycroft and Sherlock are going to have some kind of confrontation resulting from Sherlock's vow.
Also, have heard there is something shown at the end of the credits for the episode airing on Sunday.
