Sherlock had the maps of the underground with them the abandoned line and station, but he could not know the absolute target of that bomb. Neither could we, although I deduced that it was surely Parliament. So it was only when Sherlock saw the subsidiary charges set in the dome (whatever that was) under what was surely Parliament that Sherlock had the flash showing Parliament going up in a fireball.

So Sherlock surely pointed the police out to approxiamate location of the bomb probably before he and John entered the tunnel.
