It's remarkably easy to unfollow anyone who is either being stupid, bragging overly or racist,etc,etc.

Most of my feed is fellow Greyhound/Whippet owners, some cat owners and a few people from interesting spots around the world like Indonesia,South America,Russia,Japan, Korea, UAE and Australia. I'm pretty committed to weeding out anyone who does nothing but take selfies, promote a business they just started or does nothing but insult people. Or preach.

That being said, I've seen some truly lovely travel pics, some wonderful and funny pet pics, enjoying the new baby a fellow Whippet owner gave birth to in London six months ago,etc. Only a handful of my list are professional photogs, if they get a really great picture posted we all agree it's wonderful but it's rare to see gushing going on. My 300+ followers who make comments are usually fans of cats or enjoy Casey's atheletics or are curious to see what kind of winter Vancouver Island is having.

Of course it's staged to a certain extent but unlike the slide shows of vacations we all have had to suffer through over the years, you can just pass a post by and keep on going to your heart's content. Unlike Facebook or other social media, there is usually very little in the way of histrionics and opting out of a person's feed does not involve much, in fact unless you get a secondary app you have no way of knowing who's no longer following you without going through your followers list on a regular basis.

It's fun and if it's not, WHY THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE STILL DOING IT??

I'm not a huge fans of posters who constantly use blurry, out of focus shots. Since most of us use our cell phones (I prefer the Camera+ app since it does a better job than the native camera app that iPhones come with), it's inevitable that some shots come out less than great but I do like posts from those who are able to get great action shots because they are using a good camera. It's more the appreciation of taking the time to share a fun moment, the look of glee on a running dog's face or how silly your cat looks in a certain pose that makes Instagram work for me. I think if you spend too much time worrying about the veracity or the honesty of the photographer, it takes you out of the moment anyhow.

Hipsters think too much, sometimes.
