I keep failing at Captcha. Makes me feel like an idiot.
The thing is that I'm becoming long-sighted...which doesn't help. I'm so myopic that I need my (-8 dioptre) lenses to see but then I can't read. Don't laugh!

There are a lot of good TV shows on now. One has to pick and choose what you watch or you'd be glued to a TV 24/7.
And there are some shows coming on soon like RESURRECTION which are drawing my attention. Then 'The AmeriCans' is coming back on and HANNIBAL. Guilty pleasures like REVENGE are coming back and there are many others - OUAT, CASTLE, AoS, etc... etc.... etc....
Syfy brought back my favorite, BEING HUMAN, and every year it adds new aspects about outsiders attempting to live 'normal lives.' Syfy also added another - HELIX and that show is a mix of the Walking Dead with something else thrown in. The something else, which is slowly being revealed really spices up HELIX. And then there is the music on HELIX which is 50s and 60s pop/bubble-gum and really freaks you out because the music is so 'lite' and is totally antithetical to the plot - and yet it fits in so well.

True Detective is much better than all the shows you mentioned, even Hannibal, whose plotting isn't the strongest suit,...aven The Americans, although I adore the Americans!
It isn't perfect but it's quite refreshing, cleverly written, wonderfully acted and beautful filmed.
Don't get me strated on Helix, which I find very poorly written...the music is the best thing about that show.
