At least half of the cast is available for work, there is a serious lack of good new programming on the big networks so it probably was not as hard a sell as you may think.

The old school networks are not making a lot of money from tech savvy households anymore. At least 3/4 of what we do end up watching here is on US Netflix, with two hour-long drama series, some BBC programming and a handful of comedies filling in the balance. We usually watch network shows off the PVR, so we are fast-forwarding through the commercials anyhow. So sadly, going with something that kinda worked the first time as a new, limited series is the kind of thing I think we will see more of in the future,at least from the big Three since they are bleeding revenue to HBO, Netflix, etc.

Hell, Andy doesn't even own a tv anymore, everything is routed through one or the other of his gaming systems and onto a monitor, he gets his news from RSS feeds and Twitter. If it wasn't for the one island-wide news show every evening and that handful of network shows we do watch, I think we would cancel whatever cable contract we had with our phone provider (package deal) and just stick with web based tv anyhow.
