Léto is turning into a lovely dometicated cat, although she's still quite feral whne it comes to other human beings. She loves to be stroked by me on the bed and she's learnt to enjoy my kisses as well.

Tibère is still very shy and doesn't let me touch him. It's frustrating. He loves to play with me but is still scared of human touch.

And now that he is about 8 months he is very hormonal. Fortunately Léto has been sterilized in January, but he's very in love with her, stalks her and tries to mount her...

Poor girl is good at handling him, since she's the boss, but he's been very vocal at night in the last three days...his hormones are toying with him and his Siamese genes are definitely there!

So I haven't been sleeping well, and I think I'm going to have him castrated sooner than I thought. I was hoping to wait until the next holidays, that is after April the 15th. But I need my beauty sleep before facing my students!

Catching Tibère and putting him in the bag to bring him to the vet is going to be difficult, and I fear he will never forgive me and will never let me touch him after that...

Does your vet dispense tranquilizers for cats who have issues with travel? If so, perhaps you can talk to them about getting something for Tibere to take before you try to round him up for the trip to the vet. Agreed the less trauma you can attach to the event, the better off your boy will be. Some tranqs can be given in a small amount of food, just have to be sure his sister doesn't eat his dose.

It takes about 2 minutes to go from my building to hers, so travel isn't really an issue, catching Tibère is, and so will be listening to his chest, I guess, although she could do it while he is inside the bag, just like she did with his sister.

I can't give him food before the aneasthesia...can I ?

Anyway, even if I could, he is very suspicious and I only got to have him take vermifuge in a small piece of minced beef once, for he undesrtood I was trying to fool him and he started sorting it out the second time and refused to eat it the third(finally the trick was to turn the pill into powder and mix it with tuna juice!), and of course I can't give him pills directly in the mouth given that he doesn't let me touch him. Grrrrr...

Tibère isn't aggressive at all (actually Léto is more prone to freak out and show some claws), but he is wary and fast!

He knows the cat travel bag because I let it in the hallway, after Léto's sterilization, to take the drama out of it, and the kittens often use it for playtime, they even move it around, but Tibère is really smart and aware that the bag can become a trap so he never goes inside of it when I'm around.

The vet assistant has experience with feral cats for she used to work in animal shelter so I might ask her help to corner him and force him into the bag.

I know he has to be neutered but I don't want to traumatize him, he's so sensitive!

Oh well, he is noisy at night but at least he doesn't pee everywhere.

Hoping he comes around after realizing his sister loves the human touch and he might love it too. Have never had a cat that didn't ask for some kind of attention, even the toughest find themselves craving affection at times.

Neutering is a much easier procedure than a spay, I know we had cats who needed some level of sedation just to make it into the hospital and if they had to have taken it with a little food, we used a low level of injectable anesthetic, masked them down with inhalant anesthetic and monitored closely while they woke up...even a low dose of Valium may help reduce the stress levels he will feel.
