Subject: A Murder of Crowes....

Talk about setting the stage!

Crowes a comin' to Kentucky.

Boyd and Wynn on the trail in Detroit where a failing Sammy Tonin is having guys cut up with a chain saw. Wonder if they actually got their last shipment via Canada; but Picker is going to play a part opening up a channel from Mexico.

Daryl Crowe offering up the Elvis the Cuban to keep his brother and thus his family out of scrutiny of the law, all the while getting a deal through Raylan to shorten his parole. Now he can take his family to Kentucky. I bet Dewey isn't going to be happy about that.

Guessing that the Crowes will come into conflict with the alliance of Boyd & Wynn (w/Picker) or will they come to compliment each other (could be the Crowes become the drug runners?). I wonder just how well place Wynn could be without the Detroit mob backing him up?

What I really liked about the episode was that Raylan's part was somewhat incidental to that action which is setting up the season's criminal elements. Except that his Florida trip was - for Raylan - the impetus for the invasion of the Crowes into Harlan.

And then there is Ava. Does Boyd now have an ally in the Latvian doctor? Her last words to her husband was that she would take care of him, was he dead? Is she going to finish what Boyd started? And I had to laugh because when Boyd said he'd give her what Boyd had said he was going to give her husband I blurted out $100,000 rather than the $300,000 - and that's what Boyd said! Now what is Boyd going to do for Ava.... I guess that will be an ongoing problem for him.

...

It's the first thing that comes to mind when Raylan Givens shows up in front of you indeed!!!!

:- )

The swimming pool scene was a treat. Raylan's "I'm sorry", Dewey's stunned reaction, Dewey's vulnerability (so small compared to our tall man in the hat, and completely naked), Raylan producing the gun from Dewey's robe...and later shooting the pool! I loved it. I'm so happy that Dewey is back!!!!

And Wynn Duffy still watches women playing tennis!

The Detroit stuff was a bit silly, and I am not convinced by Darryl Crowe yet (funny that all the Crowes boys have a D name), even though it looks like he used Raylan to kill the Cuban and therefore seems less dumb than the rest of the family.

Now that Haitian guy sounded really nasty.

That said, I think that Raylan mentioned Dewey's money on purpose in front of him, knowing that he would tell Darryl.

It's an obvious bait, and Raylan is aiming for a long game here to catch the bad guys. It makes me sad for Dewey though. Raylan kinda likes him but he's still one of the bad guys too so our deputy Marshall is willing to use him against his relatives...or rather to sacrifice him on the altar of the "cause".

Speaking of bad guys, I always like it when the show reminds us that Boyd is a cold blooded killer, and also not that clever, at least not the mastermind he claims to be. Killing Paxton was not a smart move.

Also, what Paxton said rang tru:, Boyd, for all his big talk about Ava being the love of his life, never considered taking the blame for her...something Arlo did once for him!

When all is said and done, Raylan is the smartest of them all...even if he's chickening out when it comes to fatherhood.

He went shopping for a onesie and then didn't visit Winona and the child. They gave him a reason through the Miami agent he was with - the agent said he was happy to find a reason not to go visit his family on the weekends because leaving was too painful. But I am not sure that was Raylan's true reason. It may play a part in it. But I think Raylan may think that Winona and the baby are better off if he stays out of their lives.
