Subject: I won't bother to post a review of FRINGE

because Noel Murray wrote everything I would say on his review on the AV Club!

http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-boy-must-live,90760/

I liked what he liked, had the same thoughts about the time paradox and Olivia's reaction (and also a few plot holes he didn't mention but I'll let it slide), and had the same fears about a sappy finale.

That said, Micheal Cerveris was great...and kinda hot.

Michael Cerveris is hot!

I'm just sitting back and enjoying the show for what it is at this point. I have no expectations and I am not seeking to judge in any way. Having such an attitude often creates a self-fulfilling prophecy in which one dooms themself to be .... I cannot think of the word, I have a headache.... to be.... disappointed. Jeesh, such a simple word and I couldn't come up with it.

The story seems to revolve around our 'humanity' - and that seems to turn a lot of people off. But the evolution of man is at the heart of the human-baldy interactions. It is what happens to that most wondrous organ, our brain, and its expression as mind that FRINGE is dealing with. Is it sap to give into our human emotional existance for an ending, instead of a "scientific" one? No, it is not, our emotional states, the work of our brain as mind, are just as much a scientific endeavor as any other.

I find it somewhat disconcerting that many an atheist/agnostic or just Sci-Fi afficianado seem to think that Sci-Fi cannot explore the human condition including our emotional states (it is afterall at the core of certain Sci-Fi standards like Green Lantern). A Sci-Fi study of the human condition is perhaps the ultimste in that venue. But then, oh well....

Had somethign else to say but.... eh.... can't remember.

I think I said it before but I would say it again, the sap doesn't lie in the idea of exploring emotional states in human condition but in the way to do so.

BSG did it often (the show at its core was about what being human means after all!)and it was never sappy (in my opinion) while FRINGE often indulges in sap.

It's just a matter of writing quality, style and tone.

I enjoy the show but it will never belong to my tv pantheon for that reason.

Have you seen the trailer for the finale?

Not going to speculate. But it seems that the "plan" - whatever was supposed to happen will go all to HELL!!!

I think they are setting us up for a big surprise (ok, I know, but I don't even want to talk about it!), which is quite different from where they've focused the ending into.

So, I just want to sit back and enjoy the ending.

My cousin (she's 76) came up and I asked her is she had seen FRINGE.... she's a big fan of the show. But she did not realize that FRINGE was ending - FOREVER. I had to tell her it wasn't just a season ender next week but the show's complete end.

I just hope we don't have weather like we had last night. I lost satellite reception and the power went out for 3 hours. Had really heavy rain (flood on river projected to be 20 feet - 6-7 feet above my farm) and high winds that took off roofs and downed trees. A train hit a tree and had to stop. I'm just fearful something like that might happen in the finale.

Lynn
