Saying it did was only a 'device' by way of an explanation. Time did not loop or start over in 2015. Technically, the invasion just did not happen and time progressed as usual. If it had been a true reset Walter would still be around, but he (and Michael) disappeared to avoid the paradox.

And I am amazed how many people get it wrong that Peter should not exist. Without the Observers, Peter would not have died in the Redverse. Back in Season 4 (The End of All Things), September told Peter what the correct timeline was supposed to be like. Peter was to be cured by Walternate, grow up in the Redverse, somehow meet Olivia from the Bluverse and have a child named Henry.

Likely, what was to happen had something to do with DRJ and possibly Bell, as we saw in S4. There would only be one Machine. The meeting between the universes would likely be friendly and have to do with ridding the menace of DRJ and maybe Bell.

But the ending should probably not have had Henrietta, but Henry. Except that the audience was invested emotionally in Etta and thus they wrote it in - took that dramatic license - that the child they had in the end was Henrietta. I'm fine with that - maybe September saw the wrong possible future....


You missed that in the show completely concerning Windmark. The Baldy was breaking down ever since he entered 'our era.' He said as much to his 'boss' in 2609 in the previous episode. That was also the point made concerning the science team. And it is quite evident that attempting to read Michael also adversely effected Windmark. When he travelled to 2609 just the mention of Michael while talking again with his boss caused him a problem. Windmark was off his Baldy-form since he attempted to read Michael.

The scene with Peter and Walter viewing the tape was necessary to give a closer to their relationship for the audience as it was that which Peter would discover beyond the end of the show. You thought the ending was drawn out and emotional? What would it have been like if we had to sit around while Peter found the tape? I thought showing him find it in 2036 and viewing it with Walter was brilliantly written. But futher, those scenes with Peter and Walter were also about showing to Donald what his feelings towards Michael meant to him and highlighting that relationship.

Walter/Astrid would set you off... it surely did me as well.

Cerveris was amazing unto his death. Donald got his wish, to hold Michael's hand and know the love that existed between the two of them.

But it was Walter's destiny to go into the future. That had to be. It was ordained in the Beyond the Fringe comic when Peter was jumping through the past placing the parts of the Machine and at one point gets displaced into an unknown time on an island called Hy-Brasil. The time was evidently into the far future. A man named Dian Cecht tells Peter that Hy-Brasil was made possible by 'The Bishop' and that Peter's father was a great man. I can only imagine that it is something that Walter does in the future which could lead to Hy-Brasil or that simply he took Michael into the future.

I just let the plot and the characters take me. I just watched the show again with my cousin and it took me away all over again. Yes, it is emotionally draining. I like my TV that way.

What did you say that I missed it? Yes Windmark had been "affected", it was obvious that he felt anger, rage even, and hatred, when he killed Etta for instance or at other moments, and yes trying to read Michael pointed it out that his own emotions were reflected back to him causing the bleeding.

My point was that it was therefore completely not necessary to have him voice out loud that he had feelings and felt hate, hence my eyes rolling. It's again the old rule of "show not tell" that FRINGE broke and it was groan worthy IMO.

Oh well, anyway...
