Subject: Good morning.

A quiet, drizzly Saturday morning here. We've so far avoided the worst excesses of the cold snaps, yesterday was lovely but of course today is wet because I am home. The dogs are pretty good about it, though Masq did some pacing around when Ali and I discussed trying to get them out for a walk later today-she usually takes them for a good walk daily out at the hatchery but was laid up with stomach ache yesterday. Don is away in Vancouver for the third weekend of a four weekend course he's been taking over the winter, lots of emergency services personnel taking it so he's met some interesting people from the police and fire departments...unlike Fernie, he has less interaction with these areas now and of course Vancouver is a much tougher place to work when you are involved with such a large population.

How is everyone? Andy is turning 21 next weekend, so the plan is for us to go down to Victoria and take him out for a fancy dinner. He's working hard for a company out of L.A. as a programmer right now and has his first business trip for them on Tuesday, heading down to Redmond for a meeting with nine co-workers and a very big name company (not Microsoft) who they are doing work for. The irony is that the legal drinking age down in Washington state is 21, so if there is any socialising involved, he has to hope it's not at a bar. So close!!!

Busy with work, we're on the shoulder season between Valentine's and Spring/Easter stuff coming in so right now are scrambling to get caught up on all the other things like claims, etc that tend to get ignored during the rush to Christmas. So looking forward to spring and evenings getting out for walks again, hard being cooped up all weekday there on days when it's nice out.

Casey is almost full grown now and between him and Indiana Jones the kitten, lots of adorableness around here. Indy is the sweetest cat imaginable, loves everyone and hovers between thinking he is a cat and/or a dog sometimes. I know that when Masq goes, at least Casey will have Indy for a buddy around the house until such time as we can find another Whippet puppy.

Ali got a turntable and between her and Don, we're buying vinyl again. Funny how that's come back again, one of her favourite bands released a new album on disc and that is how it all got started. There are a couple of good places to buy used records in Nanaimo, more in Victoria and I hear there are some really great places in Seattle when we get down there some weekend.

TV wise, not watching a ton of stuff, the one bright spot is that Community is back on again Feb 7th for what is most likely it's final season. With the movie channels and HD documentary channels, there is something to be watched most nights. Oh and Don did go to see "Zero Dark Thirty" last night, we had an interesting text talk about it afterwards. He said that it's well made and interesting, just kind of hard to watch when you don't nessessarily agree with the philosophy of "the end justifies the means" mindset involved. I can understand the American POV that getting Bin Laden after 9/11 by any method deemed essential was allowed, it's more having Gitmo still open that bugs me after all of these years....

Glad to hear things are going well for you and the family.

Hey, F.Y.I., ardie has TONS of vinyl, so if you shoot me a few names I can see what I can do for you.
He worked for a "radio station" back in the stone age.
Don't think it would cost that much to ship.

We're doing well here too.
Shout out to Lij and Chani. I saw that Gabs
flew through a while back. Nice.

I'm into documentaries too.

Yeah, Gitmo has got to go.

Love Community. *sixseasonsandamovie*
One can dream.

[> [> Thanks for that, dee! -- AS, Sunday, January 27, 11:42:29am (d99-199-122-58.bchsia.telus.net/99.199.122.58)

I shall mention that to Don and Ali, sometimes I think the thrill of the hunt is part of it though...

I'm torn about Community going past another season. Now that Pierce will be gone and two of the bigger talents behind the scenes as well, maybe we should hope for a really great fourth and give everyone a big hug at the end??? It's freaking hard topping some of the sly genius this show has given us, from the Halloween zombie episode to the two parter paintball blow out. The characters make the show but how they are written counts too...DON'T WANT THEM TO BRITTA IT!!

I was just repeating the "six seasons and a movie" quote Troy and Abed yell out every once in a while.

At this point, I've just learned to take what I can get from any TV show I love to watch.
If I invest too much of my emotions I know I'll get hurt.*snort*

It was nice to see it on the Tivo lineup after such a loooooong time. Feb. 7th! yay.

"Remedial Chaos Theory" is my favorite episode of the series, so far.

I've heard so many celebrities
(Patton Oswalt and Kevin Smith for instance)
talk about how they were disappointed in
Chevy Chase once they got to meet him and found out
what a complete asshole he is in everyday life.
Although he has made me laugh on Community,
I won't really miss him. I have a feeling he brought a
lot of vitriol and bitterness to that set whenever he was
on it.

And on the lighter side of that...have a good day.

[> [> [> [> That's a damn fine episode. It's hard picking one! -- AS, Thursday, January 31, 09:26:09pm (d99-199-122-58.bchsia.telus.net/99.199.122.58)

"Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design" is a favourite."Critical Film Studies" was pretty good too."Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples" really rang a bell or two with me but I have to say that from a geek POV, your favourite really was great.

As for Chevy, one of the things I heard was that a few of the actors had a Twitter account running for a while that was outrageous statements and you had to guess whether Chevy or Pierce had said it. HAH! I just think that the crazy Chang storyline has really run it's course and since I think Pierce was the perfect foil for the group as a whole, I will kinda miss him. Mind you, with Dan Harmon gone the show might be somewhat different from the start of this season anyhow...Dan also had a reputation as a pain in the ass as well.

Trying to resolve an immigrant ancestor's story - see:

Sig's look similar to me, especially the "E" and "t" with ending.

In Indiana he was known as:

Camille Eugene Oswald Englebert de Buisseret

In Belgium the suspected person was born with the name:

Camille Auguste Oswald Englebert

Funky eh - what?

Lynn
