Subject: Window Cat Attack

Nash Turley, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Toronto, writes about seeing a tuxedo cat outside his window. He lifted up his own cat, the furry Shamrock, to see the interloper, and a kerfuffle ensued. Note the malevolent expression on the tuxedo cat (at his website): who says you can’t read cat’s emotions on their faces?

And it's nothing compared to Siamese cats!

;-)

I guess calling another cat a female dog would be something of a insult in the feline world.

the mother, I mean. There was a dog barking at some point, and the smaller cat looked down...

[> One of many things you never do? Get between two cats heading into a fight. Or carry over your kitty if you hear howling outside. -- AurraSing, Wednesday, June 19, 09:39:54pm (d154-20-56-169.bchsia.telus.net/154.20.56.169)

Any scars I have from animals (outside of cattle), pretty much come from cats I used to work with and I have to say that in most of those cases, I had no warning. But you do learn to read body language and in some cases, vocabulary in order to anticipate cats who are going to strike or try to nail you because they are mad about seeing another cat.

Our Kandy is a mouthy bitch of a cat, she's tried to intimidate the other cats and dogs with her howls...Indy the kitten soon learned how best to tease her early in the morning while they are waiting for us to wake up (the howls get more histrionic as his teasing gets worse) and Cole has learned to only chase her when she dares enter his domain of our bedroom. The dogs on the other hand mostly ignore her now since they've learned she's most full of HOT AIR.

[> [> What gets me is that some cats are schizophrenic -- Lj, Friday, June 21, 11:45:27pm (adsl-108-67-89-229.dsl.bltnin.sbcglobal.net/108.67.89.229)

A good friend had a cat that when I went to his house it was always the cat that sought me out to be stroked. It would even show me its belly to be lightly stroked. But the cat would be enjoying it one moment and in the next just go wild with scratching and biting. I learned to stop after a while before the scratching started, but the cat would always force the isssue seeking out the stroking. I always knew what would eventually come.
