It rained - again!

Not sure how much, my gage is broken. But it rained from 4 to 8 PM in varying degrees. I might have some luck with the crops. It's taken over 2 weeks but the soybeans below the house are sprouting. Corn in the riverbottoms still looks good as well as the soybeand around the pond. But the soybeans have been aborting flowers and pods, so a 50+ bushel per acre yield is out of the question. Surprisingly, the corn on the hill farm still looks good. Might be because it was planted a little later than others. Coming into tasseling, so this rain - with some help from rain to come (?) - might just make a crop above insurance levels. We'll see, else we're going to harvest it for silage for my cousin's cows (they gotta eat too!) and plant a good crop of wheat. At least in the winter it should rain.... shouldn't it??

They had some big storms above Lafayette a few weeks ago and I looked at the Wabash River gage there to see how much the river rose. It spiked up 0.3 inches and fell that amount in the same day. The ground and riverbed just soaked up the rainwater.
