Subject: Last spring I bought a new knife to carry.....

It was a Victorinox/Swiss Forester's knife.

Today I was looking at the National Geographic store website and found this:

http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/product/gear-%26-gadgets/outdoor-gear/official-swiss-army-soldier%27s-knife

The Official Swiss Army Soldier's Knife also by Victorinox. It's nearly the same as my knife. I bought mine because it had just the tools I wanted on it. I sort of found it neat that it was called the Forester's knife by Victorinox because my Swiss ancestor was a lumberman and wagon builder in the northern Swiss area of what is now Canton Jura. He was from Soyhieres and married the daughter of the Forest Warden of Develier - how to get an in on the lumbering game, I guess.

But the differences between the Swiss Army Soldier's knife and the Forester are few. The Forester is red-cased, the Soldier is olive drab. And most importantly, the Soldier has a phillips screw-driver, but the Forester has a corkscrew! Those Foresters knew how to live!

Screw wine bottle corks not screws!

I carry two sets of keys, one has a small multi-tool set that Don had given to him years ago. Amazing how handy that little thing has been.Just have to remember to take it off any time I am going through a security checkpoint...
