Subject: March coming in like a lion....

At least 15 reported tornados across southern Illinois and Indiana today. Right now there are four tornado warnings in southern Indiana, three of which are following one right after the other. The speed has been up to 65 miles per hour.

Thankfully, they have all been south of me. In fact the line of storms split in our area and all we got was a few sprinkles.

The town might be Henryville, Indiana, where the high school was reported to be destroyed.

History of Henryville

The town of Henryville was established in 1850, originally as the village of Morristown. It was renamed Henryville in 1853 to honor Colonel Henry Ferguson. It was an early stop for the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Henryville is the birthplace of "Colonel" Harland Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Henryville is the setting of the 2007 song "Up In Indiana" by Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. The song likely refers to Henryville Correctional Facility.

The area suffered significant damage on March 2, 2012 during a serious tornado outbreak (already on Wikipedia!!).

Kind of hard to wrap my head around the thought of winter tornadoes-how very terrible and so damned destructive!

.....they found out who the baby was. Then they found out that the rest of the toddler's immediate family had died in the tornado.

Heard that on the news last night.... I couldn't keep from crying.
