We did watch the first episode before the two hour finale; good decision because it made it really easy to see how the show has come full circle after all of these seasons.

When I say "we", I mean that for the entire time, all four of us sat in the living room and watched it. Not an easy feat with two teenagers on a Friday night but overall, we had a good time. Did the last few minutes deliver the kind of resolution we expected? Not really, it was more of a 'hopeful' ending rather than a truly happy ending and a good chunk of the fandom is very displeased that Sarah never got the change to have those past five years given back to her. In effect, they decided to leave her brain-damaged in a far more unpleasant manner than Morgan was and fans who have been complaining that Sarah was kind of spinning her wheels this season are really upset that while she appears to be getting some of her memories back, Chuck was forced to choose between the bomb and her dilemma, with the bomb winning out. I would have been happier if it was Chuck going back to square one and having Sarah working to prove their love; she's the character that went from master manipulator/killer to a lover/wife and it sucks that by the very end, it appeared that she was going to have to relearn about love in her life. I guess our reaction to the ending could be summed up by the fact that nobody had a smile on their face when that beach shot closed, unlike those moments like when Jeffster jumped into the breach (Ali really loved their choice of tunes) or when Big Mike was left beaming at the new addition to the store.

That being said, there was a lot to love about the finale; how they did so many callbacks to previous episodes, seeing Robbie McNeill next to Casey in the helicopter (Trek actor, acting producer/director for Chuck), watching Awesome cover Clara's eyes down in Castle, Ellie seeing a chance and taking it, Casey showing up with Sarah's log records and the montage of her feelings changing towards Chuck during the years of being his handler. Yvonne did a terrific job of portraying Sarah from the early days to those final moments of her realising that there was a good reason why that beach was so damned important, I will really miss watching the cast but she was one of the very best parts of it.

Anyhow, I'm glad they got a chance to do a real ending for the show, I just wish it hadn't come at the cost of those five years of Sarah growing into being a "real woman" and not just a merciless agent.

One roast beef with all the fixings, one deli combo, my steak and cheese plus Don's turkey/ham on toasted oat.

Oh yeah, I also loved Casey's big bear hug. That was awesome!!
