Subject: End of an era.

I've always been a space nut-even before I got into SF, I dreamed about the stars. I grew up with Apollo and became an adult with the Shuttle program. Last night I laid in bed and watched streaming video from Mission Control as Atlantis made her final trip back to earth. This pre-dawn touchdown was both sweet and somewhat bitter for me, since it marks the end of an adventure that's been a part of my life (both the good and the bad) for 30 years...

With no cold war to hasten exploration and the current economic climate, I am not sure we'll ever see it's like again.
