IGGY-VERSES!
Round one: Star Vs. Iggy

A joint work between Star S. and The Great Enigma.

DISCLAIMER: Iggy doesn’t own Star, and Star doesn’t own Iggy. Star also doesn’t own any references to materia or other Final Fantasy related schtuff. This is chapter one of the Iggy vs. Star fights…

The sun was setting in the western horizon. The sparse clouds that loomed in the sky were kissed with beauteous hues of reds, violets, and yellows. A cool breeze blew through the tall grass that the two combatants stood in. At one end of the field, a black mage; at the other end, a Ximian with what could only be desribed as a big-ass shuriken.

"I hope you're ready to have the tar beaten out of you, Princess Star," said the mage. His yellow eyes glowing menacingly under the brim of his witch's hat.

"Funny, Iggy-san, you hooligan," said the Ximian, "I was gonna say the same about you!"

"I would think that fighting is above someone of your stature, Star," said Iggy. "Anyone who needs a bunch of rhinestones in their weapons and armor to fight doesn't deserve to use magic at all, not to mention fight."

"Said a succubus being led around by his bootlaces by some girl..." Star teased.

"At least I got who loves me to lead around by my bootlaces," retorted Iggy. "You seem doomed to be alone. Or worse, to be with my friend, Red Angel."

That was the last straw.

"Take this, devil-boy!" yelled Star, as she charged her summoning materia.

"Gladly," said Iggy, who was secretly hoping she didn't posses Bahamut ZERO...

^Hmm...^ thought Star, planning her strategy as she picked her first summon materia. ^I think I'll save the most powerful summons for last, as wild cards. After all, it's not like there's a time limit on this duel...^ A malicious grin formed on her lips as she held up a glowing scarlet orb and shouted, "Lord of Hell, I summon thee from thy pits of blackest darkness. Rise and aid me in this battle! HADES!"

With that, Star jumped backwards as four pillars and a raised platform rose out of the very Earth itself. A spiked chandelier phased in and 'hung' over a billowing, blackened cauldron which was steaming with an unearthly glow. Suddenly, Hades, Lord of the Dead himself appeared, and gesturing over the cauldron, released a poisonous miasma that (if not guarded properly against) caused the attacked to be simultaneously poisoned, put to sleep, confused, turned into a frog, and their sight obscured.

At this point, Iggy was wondering if he remembered all of the proper counterspells...

"Hades, eh?" Iggy thought as the lord of darkness arose with his couldron."Okay, I can deal." He made a seal with his hands in the shape of a diamond and prepared his spell.
"May Hacate, goddess of the arcane, bless with the power of healing light to protect her servant! MIGHTY GUARD!" As the spell was taking effect, a green mist wafted from the couldron and swiftly blew towards Iggy.

"Oh, shit. If I live through this, Star is in SO much trouble..."

Star watched from behind Hades as Iggy cast a barrier-like spell, and considered her next move. ^Hmm... if he can cast mighty guard, than so can I. And that enemy skill material has more uses than just one...^ A small orb the color of golden sunlight appeared in Star’s hand, and she raised it aloft. “Two can play the barrier game, Iggy. BIG GUARD!”

With that, a flattened, shining green bubble appeared between Star and Iggy (who, at this point, was still bracing against Hades’ attack), and as quickly as it appeared, the bubble dissolved. However, the effects of the spell were still there. Now, Star had a solid ‘wall’ between herself and any attacks (physical or magical) that Iggy would throw at her, plus, her speed had been increased dramatically. There were only two problems: one, the walls would ‘wear off’ after two minutes, and two, the walls only prevented her from taking full damage, and did not keep her from receiving some damage.

“Now, to do some damage of my own,” Star shouted, as she once again raised the Enemy Skill material, and shouted “TRINE!”

^Just my luck...^ Iggy thought as he was assailed by two simultaneous attacks, one of gas, and another of lightning...

^Heh,^ Thought Iggy as the dual attacks came towards him, ^I wanted a challenge, and I got one. Here's hoping this spell works on GF's.^ "TEMPO, NON VIGILEM!"
Iggy closed his eyes and braced for the worst.

The worst never came.

"Hey, it worked. Now it's time to really prepare for battle. WALL! REFLECT!" In seconds, a multifaceted barior of energy surrounded Iggy. This was proceeded by a bubble of light which coated the reflect spell.

"Now, I don't even have to cast the spell to Star! That'll save me a lot of MP, and time, in the long run." Realizing that time was something he didn't have alot of, he rushed around the attacks and over the wall to strike.

"Suprise, Iggy-san," Star said,sarcastically. "Don't think for a second that I don't know one of your weaknesses." What the one mage saw, shocked him like little could...

(While Iggy was performing Wall and Reflect, Star wasn't letting the grass grow under her feet...) Indeed, Star never was one to let the grass grow under her feet, especially while in a battle. ^The nice thing about Trine reflected,^ Star thought, ^Is that the pyramid reverses, so you're safe as long as you're inside...^

Using her enhanced speed, Star jumped into the middle of the lightning-pyramid and pulled out two orbs, a cerulean blue and another scarlet red, all the while bowing her head and summoning a power that resided in her. ^Cerberus...^ she called into the void, ^Cerberus, lend me the power!^
With that, Star's head snapped up, and the two orbs she held flared into life. Holding the glowing spheres together, Star shouted, "Come, King of Bahamuts! From behind the moon to protect life, I summon thee... BAHAMUT ZERO!"

The air directly behind Iggy (who is blissfully unaware of all but his defense spells) shimmers, and Bahamut ZERO appears. But then, due to the effects of Star's blue materia (which just *happened* to be Quadra Magic), Bahamut ZERO shimmers once again... and there are FOUR Bahamut ZEROS behind Iggy. Just when one might think it's over, the Bahamuts shimmer AGAIN! Where there were four, there are now TWELVE Bahamut ZEROS! But wait, this fun isn't over yet! Due to the fact that Cerebus cast both Triple AND Double on Star, the twelve Bahamut Zeros shimmer one last time... for a total of TWENTY-FOUR BAHAMUT ZEROS IN A RING BEHIND IGGY! MY GOD!

So, as Iggy ran around the barrier he had erected, with the intent to strike Star while her guard was down, he was in for an unpleasant suprise...

"Suprise, Iggy-san," Star said, sarcastically. "Don't think for a second that I don't know one of your weaknesses."

What the one mage saw, shocked him like little could: twenty-four Kings of Bahamuts, Tetra-flares at the ready, smiling maliciously at him. Iggy suddenly wondered if he had his life insurance paid up...

"No time for second thoughts, Iggy... This is it." With a malicious smile that exactly matched those on the Bahamut Zeros, she said a single word: "Fire."

As Iggy saw orange, firey death heading for him, he simply thought, ^I'm sorry, Mandi-chan...^

*a few minutes later*

“Geez, when he wanted to go down in a blaze of glory, I don’t think this is what he meant...” Star muttered, nudging his charred corpse with her foot. Ah, well. The duel can’t be over yet, I haven’t had enough fun!” With that, Star jumped backwards about fifty feet and held up a large green orb. “LIFE2!”

A healing, green glow appeared over Iggy’s lifeless body and slowly reversed all of the damage, finally bringing him back to the land of the living. “Wha... Hunh... Where am I?” he asked, confused.

Star laughed maliciously, “Hell. And I’m your personal demon.” With that, she held up the largest scarlet orb ever seen, and shouted, “Legendary figures of lore! I call on thee, lend me thy spear, thy magic, thy mace, and thy sword. Let King Arthur live again, KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND!” She flashed and evil smile at Iggy before fading out, and said, “Déjà vu?”

“Mother...” was all Iggy could whisper, as death’s cold arms reached out to embrace him for the second time in five minutes...

After reviving Iggy a second time, Star asked him, “Do I win? Or do you want the custom-made tombstone J.T. Magnus has prepared for you?”

“You win,” Iggy wearily conceded, “but what custom tombstone?”

“Oh, it goes like this,” Star answered.
