Well I was just about to post a success story of my journey through California Diversion program to having to enter and start over another program in Florida IPN for 5 years. At the end of this month it will be my 7th year of sobriety.

I even got a job that I love in the pre op area of an ambulatory surgicenter. It has been approx 7months since I entered IPN. Well I got a call yesterday at work and my case manager told me I have to leave work due to a positive etg. That I would need to have another evaluation, like I have relapsed.

I was shocked, I have a long history of testing positive for etg, without ingesting any etoh. My DOC is opiates and I never even drank etoh. I had warned IPN that I have a long history of testing positive and have been to many specialist and have told that I am either a hyper producer of etg and or I have gut fermentation syndrome (autobrewary syndrome) I have high levels of yeast in my gut and produce my own etoh.

IPN told me that they would first try testing me for etg and if there was a problem they would change plans. Well my case manager acted like she never heard of my problem and didn't seem to be very knowledgable about this possibility of nurses like me. I did get to talk to the MRO, who is friend of Dr Skipper who help promote this test. He said there is a new test that will confirm if I haven't been drinking call PEth. It is from a blood draw, It cost $175. After researching about this test, If I am producing etoh, then there is a possibility that it will be positive too.

I left work crying, was able to get into Dr Johnson, one of Florida IPN addictionologist. He has been my Doctor since starting IPN, I told him from the beginning of my etg issues. Whats crazy is I have to make an appt and pay another $500 for an evaluation. He already told me that he thinks I need to be screened differently.

I have gone through 3 rehabs, I have a mark on my license, and paid over 100,000 dollars since starting these programs in 2006, since having problems with etg.

IPN and other current nursing programs monitor there nurses without using etg. I feel like a diabetic and they keep expecting my sugars to be normal.

I am supposed to go to mexico for a week the first week of April. This trip is non refundable. When my etg nightmare began in 2006, I had to cancel a anniversary trip to europe and enter into a 2nd rehab.

My marriage has been rocky since all of this has been going on, this isn't making it nay better. I also got a call from unemployment today, telling me that I probably have to pay back the money they gave me. I don't know what to do any more.
