Hey Millie!!!

I am glad to hear you are still going strong.

I really miss the lively discussions we used to have here. Madison popped in here several months ago and might even have mentioned wondering where you went.

I finally got my license without discipline on it--after SIX YEARS PLUS of bull$hit probation. It dragged on so long because I couldn't find a nursing job after I'd worked off about 3 of the 5 years. I finally petitioned the BON and they let me off in Oct 2012. However, in my state, nurses in my situation ALWAYS have the "black mark" for prospective employers to turn up their noses at...

The ONLY nursing job I have been able to get is just a couple of underpaid hours a week as a flu shot nurse, and that will evaporate soon. In fact, I was recently fired from a medical records retrieval job that didn't even require a license when the company saw my past, now resolved, licensure discipline!

Mind you, my theft of a few Percocets occurred back in 2000! I stayed away from nursing until I had stopped all drugs and my compulsive gambling problem.

I took a refresher course in 2006 amd got a job right away while on probation, but since the economy took a dump & I lost my decent job in 2009-2010, I haven't been able to find a nursing job since.

I have worked at those $10-14 per hour jobs otherwise. And frankly, at age 54, I have concluded that my life is over as far as ever being able to do anything but subsist. I have decided that if I ever end up homeless, I will probably kill myself.

I go to a couple of Narcotics Anonymous meetings for the social aspect since I live alone and just put up with the God-stepper-billshit and don't say anything (mostly, lol) about how I am not a "believer." I understand why folks like to think they have found The Answer, when they are uncontrollably using drugs to the point of death.

I have been drug and gamble free since Dec 2004.

Well, Millie, that's enough for now. I hope you continue to do well with your health and career. I plan to shoot you an email to say "hi" in case you don't come back to this site again to see this response.

Kind regards,

Catmom
