My nursing attorney said I could appeal at about 2 years to see if they will let me off and if all things have been going well, they would probably let me off. I am not too pressed about that at this point- the reporting and paperwork is second nature to me at this point and I don't even mind the daily check ins and drug screens. OTher than the cost of the screens, I feel like they keep me accountable and aware that I could slip up at any time. The thing I would most like to live with out is the 12 step meetings. I like one of the meetings I go to- a Caduceus meeting- that is all health care professionals. I have met some great people there and of course their situations are more similar to mine than folks I meet at regular AA meetings. I never drank, rarely even socially drank, so all that talk about alcoholism is lost on me. Even the time period when I was using narcotics was only about 6 months, so I don't feel like every decision I ever made in my whole life was guided by addiction. I know for some people, AA has saved them and it is a guiding light- but I often feel a little oppressed when there. Plus, I don't feel like anyone FORCING me to participate helps me be a more sober person. Not knocking AA per se, I just don't like being forced to go. But, part of the recovery process I suppose. I can't imagine ever sharing a relapse or other very personal issue in one of those rooms. But, that is just me I guess. I am lucky in the way that I met a good friend there (Caduceus group) who is my 'sponsor' and fills out my paperwork without too much hassle. I also have a decent casemanager at the BON who realizes that I am jumping through all of the appropriate hoops and seems to care about my well being. I have some friends who aren't so lucky. I am going to start looking for a job first thing MOnday morning- I know it might take a while but right now I already have a full time teaching contract that won't be over until the end of the semester. Hopefully I can find something for the weekends in quick order. I have to do a bunch of CEU's as part of my reinstatement responsibilities. I am going to join one of those nursing sites that offer unlimited CEU's for a certain amount of money. I am not sure about all of the websites I have found for "naughty nurses". This one, even though it is kind of slow is good. Sometimes I find some stuff on ALLNURSES, but as you said, it is heavily monitored. I signed up to this one nursing thread that comes across my email when someone posts- seems like there are a lot of Ohio nurses on there. I will take a look, but I think I have seen your name on most of the ones I have found. :-) [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
