Well, I am days away from having my license reinstated. It has been one horrifying event after another since I was caught diverting 2 1/2 years ago. You all know the horrors that occur- the nursing board issues, the legal issues, the grueling AA meetings, getting and staying clean, all of it is a nightmare!

I was at my doctors office the other day and her nurse is getting ready to leave for maternity leave. Upon my license renewal, I either have to take and pay for an expensive refresher course or have an "extended orientation". That is if you can even find someone to hire you with a narcotic restriction.

While chatting it up with my physician ( a long time friend) I asked if she would be interested in letting me volunteer for her as an RN while her nurse is out on maternity leave. She was thrilled as they were going to just try to wing it without her. She has another nurse who could be my mentor while I am there, which is also required.

Another positive note, even if I only worked there for 3 months, that is 3 months served of the 6 month narcotic restriction. I am thinking even if the nurse comes back from leave in 12 weeks, maybe I could keep volunteering for another few weeks to continue working off that narcotic restriction.

Things are looking up! Hope all is going well for you all in your journey's......
