TITLE: "The End Of Summer"



Many pears
hang like misformed red-hearts from my lovely green tree ;
down near the weedy garden.

It is sometimes
hard to know
if the fruit is
ripe or if the pretty fruit is rotten
through and through.



Lessons about love
that are often forgotten
with time
and blue Valentine rhymes
that come and go
with each new year.

The end of two hearts
that once were one.


So sad the
drops of sunshine that fall down
on the broken hearted kind
the warm drops become cold like the north pole.

The End of something is always
hard to tell, and even harder to take,
starlight shines on as it
did before "the end" of
things both bitter and sweet;
now only words on a page where you and I meet.
