Subject: Picnic Dreams

Their picnic box contains
no more than she
can love. A checkered
tablecloth.
He loves to watch her
ramble in the field.
Sometimes she mourns her
container-like state,
her realistic mentality.
Their love has vaporized
with foggy fate.
She watches her toes,
(for she loves oblivion)
sorrows over breaks once polished.
He watches how the skies follow
distant sunlight, well endowed
stepping down western staircase,
strutted hips so ardent,
burnt crimson-gold that turns
the world of men upside down.
Fingerprints on his mind,
on places closest to the heart.
She says words she couldn’t mean.
At least he thinks.
How apt her moods swing
through poppy fields,
collecting all the bleeding hearts.
Maybe, this picnic is just some
boxed hobby and he is horribly
deluding himself into believing
there is worth in this pursuit.
