Dreams and Memories


Following the old river road of my youth,
hand-in-hand
with a life time of dreams and memories
on a beautifulspring day,
speaking of inconsequential matters
with the white spider lilies, pink mallow
and purple thistles formed a bright border
with clover, that the soft air was scented.

"I used to love to lie down and roll in that."
I said to my wife, pointing,
still hand-in-hand
"Just sniffing it from this road,
doesn't get me close enough to it,
when it smells so good.-----In fact,
I'd still like to do the same thing.
But since I've attained man's estate,----
which unfortunately----
means acting like an adult, I'll just have to----
content myself with you admiring our Chinese lilacs."

Following the river road hand-in-hand
with our hearts being in the same band.
