Subject: "Capricious Comet"

"Comet News"
{Capricious comet is passing through
Space Shorts: Comet LINEAR should be visible to naked eye.}

Last Saturday on our way
to the coffee house we had a flat tire
on our car, and there on the gray-blue steps in front
of the "Coffee Grounds" with nothing in his hands,
stood a homeless man, with an old winter coat
on his back, even in the summer's heat.
We asked him if he could helps us with the flat
he said yes, I can do that, I like to work when I can.
He told us he was homeless and we did not ask
him, and we would have never known if it had not been for
the heavy coat, because, I asked him why he had his coat on in the middle
of the sunny day in all the heat and he said well I leave it on
that way when it rains I won't get all wet and when your
homeless you get use to things like that, wearing you coat
and sleeping anyplace you can find to stay warm and dry.
He told us to go on in to the coffee shop and to enjoy our
drinks, I went in and got him some ice and a Coke to drink.
I said please take off your coat, so he did and worked for
less then an hour on fixing the flat tire on our car.
He told me his friend said he could move in with him
if he could come up with 30 bucks, he said it with a nice grin, made me think of the
30 pieces of silver and sin, "you" know how us writers do think
our minds are always in the pink.
So my daughter and I stayed inside just near the window
drinking our iced cappuccino, mine with an extra shot of espresso and white chocolate to go ,so we could watch
him and if he needed us we would be right there near, and then we wanted to pay him
for what he had done for us.
Later we gave him 30 bucks just the amount he said he would need to get a roof over his head, and we said our thanks,
he was happy to have that much dough, and we really do not know
if that is what the money would go for, but we would like
to think so, to get him in a house, for him to no longer be
homeless and on the road.
They said on the news that very same Saturday night Capricious Comet
will be up in the sky, and visible to the naked eye, but I have seen something on earth
that would make the angels cry a homeless man helping us
get back home.
