Subject: Taking an uncharted course for me...

So, editing my manuscript to dump unneeded words, as per the excellent website http://www.heartla.com/tips2.htm that Page so graciously shared ahile back and after cruising around on some websites this weelend, I've decided to follow some advice given there.

As we speak I'm printing it all oout. You heard me, I said printing After it is printed, I'll put it in a notebook and then ignore it for a month (The actual reccommendation is 2 month minimum, but I don't think I can take it that long). In the meantime, I guess Molly or Rayne will be suffering my constant attention as I try to ignore Old Dogs completely.

Wish me luck...

For myself, I've left Pander alone on quite a few occasions. Sometimes for years. And it is amazing how a hiatus lets me see where the holes are, and the time away has given me knowledge on how to go about fixing them. And I've never printed it off before. I think if I was to do that, I'd cheat and peek. I have no willpower whatsoever. *G*

So, while I'm not one to give advice, I'm going to suggest you not rush it. A month, or two, or more, and your story and your characters will still be there. And you can look at it with fresh eyes and get done what you think needs to be done.

I ahve printed things in the past, but never an entire manuscript. I do find that it gives me a perspective different from reading it on the screen. Something about it being on paper makes it more real, more like a book. Thing is, I've 'hidden' it where I can easily get my hands on it. I'm hoping I can ignore it long enough. I have time off coming up in a few weeks and am debating whether I should spend that time (aside from the day trip or two I want to accomplish) really concentrating on something else or devoted just to OD. (or should that be O.C.D. at this point?;-)
