Okay.
This board is slower than slow. And so…I have a question for you all.
How can we get it moving again?
FWIW, here are my thoughts. This board is more than one person. It takes our interaction to make it what it is capable of. I’d like to see greater participation in the homework. I’d like to see more excerpts from our WIP posted for crits, with time and attention paid to it on both sides being reciprocated. I believe in the give and take system, because without it we are losing out on some good times, great insights and phenomenal motivation.
To that end, in addition to the above, I’d also like to come here and see some discussion on our craft. Now, I admit that my time is just not my own sometimes, but I do think that if I knew I could come here and get a smile, type in my opinion, and undoubtedly learn something without committing myself to a scene of a couple thousand words, I’d be more likely to come here at the end of the day when it’s me time. The rest should follow. If I’m already here, I’d be more inclined to crit, reply and participate.
From my perspective, and please understand this is just me, I’m a believer in earning the right to post. If I haven’t ‘cleared the board’ I shouldn’t post something and expect to receive crits in return. That’s the way it always has been for me. And in the concern for fairness, I believe in starting at the bottom and working my way up, and replying to the best of my ability. So when I get behind, it’s easier to do nothing than something. And to state my opinion again, I don’t think I’m alone in this way of thinking, and I truly believe that’s what is happening on this board. And we’re all losing out because of it.
Obviously, with nothing being posted, we’re all kinda in limbo. And even as a lurker, it’s no fun to come here when nothing is happening. Even when time is short, I’d like to come here with my morning coffee and visit the worlds my friends have created.
So what’s to do?
I think a good place to start would be with matter of us stating what we’d like to see on this board. Perhaps we all need to be on the same page. Some of what I’d like to see, I’ve mentioned above, but I’d like to know what everyone else thinks.
This is a board where we get together to discuss our creative writing, right? So what does that mean for you?
What would provide the incentive to participate more fully?
What works for you?
What do you think needs to be changed? (besides the wallpaper? :- ( )
Take some time and think on it. Just don't forget to come back and let me know.

I agree, but I will add that one of the great things about this board and the whole LOL community is the very welcome and relaxed atmosphere- no real rules except be polite.
I also want to say that I was kinda bummed because I was hoping for some hot Falon and his brother whose name I can't remember except that it starts with a D.

I think that's why this board works so well and has such potential. And it's nice to know that when life gets in the way, this board will still be here when you get back.

LOL Well, Darian and Fallon are always willing to play, so I'll ask them what they want to share and post something as soon as I can. *G*

I miss you guys! I haunt this place daily, but refrain from posting a lot because there hasn't been a lot of activity and I don't want to hog the board if no one is around to read my ramblings. ;-) I would love to see more participation and new members. I promise to step up and do better, more thorough crits. I can't promise that, if things heat up here, that I can do a heavy duty crit on everything that comes through, but I will do my best.
Come out, come out, wherever you are...;-)
