The snippet below is from a personality trait exercise I did once, several months ago at Page's suggestion. The list of things actually in Valerie's bag follows.
****
She carries an ugly military green messenger bag everywhere she goes. The flap is covered with pins collected over the years. It contains her wallet, her keys, her iPod, and about a million other things, most of which need to be thrown away.

1. Her wallet. That contains a checkbook, overdrawn credit cards, as well as pictures of her nieces and nephew, her family, of Daniel, and of course, Taser. There usually isn't any cash in it.

2. An iPod. She collects music and most of it is stored on the device. Of course, half the time she can't find the earbuds that go to it, or the USP cord.

3. Cell phone. It does things she has no clue how to work, but she can make and take phone calls. It serves its purpose.

4. A battered prescription slip for 3 5mg Valium tablets. This is the prescription her brother her gave her the day after she got home. She will never fill it, partly from stubborness, partly because she's worried to do so might get him into trouble.

5. Two sets of keys. One set is to her house, car, assorted outbuildings and Nessa's house. The other is to the clinic, lockbox, and assorted outbuildings there.

6. Two hair bands, a comb, a couple of barettes and a plastic springy hair clippy thingy. Her hair is constantly in need of being restrained in some fashion.

7. A battered paperback. Usually something with magic and half-nekkid swordsmen in it. She doesn't really go for sappy or trashy romance novels, though she's been known to read one of the latter variety on occasion just for a laugh.

8. Various movie ticket stubs, fast food, gas and store receipts, some with notes scribbled on them. Most of these notes are illegible.

9. A penny flattened and pressed into a souvenier from the Jacksonville Zoo. It has a jaguar on it.

10. A leather coin purse, shaped like a cat. It has a hole in the seam along the bottom. It belonged to her mother.

11. About $2 worth of loose change.
